Altered art wedding hat ?

Morning peeps, hope you all had a good weekend. Apols I have not been round to visit for a few days, but time seem in short supply at the mo with so much activity and wedding preparation plus trying to get ahead with my DT work before I go.

So, where to start, an award from Lina, thank you so much Lina you are a great blog buddy, Top 5 place with this at ABC, thanks to you girls, a wedding fascinator with a crafty influence and a card for challenges.

First a special share for you today........'the' wedding hat, or to be precise fascinator........I love big hats but with waist length hair that I wear up most of the time, hats don't really sit atop too well. But I love feathers, so these top nots are right up my street and so elegant.

But you know me, there has to be a bit of crafting involved, oh yes, I do mean in the fascinator..... call it altered art. I did exactly the same with this wedding as our eldest son's last year, bought one outfit and then saw another.......I know, logic says take one back, but well I love silk which they both are plus the bolero jacket with the first is lovely so you know what happened........yes I now have two outfits.

This little number which I bought with the first outfit matched the second one as well, but I thought it needed a touch of lilac to match the hint running through the fabric of the second outfit so embarked on a bit of titivating. Some lilac feathers, silicone and dries clear glue from my craft room, and there you have it ready to go.

Lots of you have asked about the Matron of Honor's dress. Still missing four weeks on I'm afraid and with the wedding next week we have all accepted it's unlikely to turn up. So she has offered to try and find a replacement in Paris this week, but easier said than done as far as matching colour goes as the other four girls dresses are with us. On a positive note, my shoes are wearing in nicely and the bride and groom seem to have passed the stress barrier and come out the other side.

Now a card for this weeks Penny Black challenge which has the theme "Flowers" and Cupcake whose theme is "Blooming Charming" and Secret Crafter which would like to see "Metal" on projects (butterfly charm).

It gave the perfect chance to indulge in the new Kaiser DP freshly arrived at Stampalot this week along with some more Magnolia flowers which just happened to match perfectly. My main image is Penny Black 3976K acrobat, coloured with Copics and decoupaged with three layers. The sentiment is Hero Arts A4981. I punched the borders with Fiskars threading water and added lace, a butterfly charm, punched leaves, glitter and some cord.

Oh, those hedgies are just too cute! They melt me every time I see one of these images.

I love the 'titfer' Brenda. Bet you're getting really excited now underneath the stress. Shame about the Matron of Honour's dress but I'm sure everything will still be beautiful on the day.

Hugs
Lesley Xx

The hat is wonderful Brenda! Feathers are always gorgeous on hats.

I'm sorry to hear that the matron of honor dress is still missing. But it's fab that the bride is in a good mood. Her dress will be the focal point anyhow :)

Love the card btw!

Take care

Trust you to come up with an altered hat, Brenda! It's fabulous! I love the colour. I hope we are going to see pictures of you in the wedding outfit! Shame about the dress, but as my daughter said when it was her wedding, it was the people who mattered, not what they were wearing, and as long as everyone was comfortable & enjoying themselves, she was happy.

My brother-in-law, who lives in Fiji, had asked us if we would sponsor a young Fijian friend of his who wanted to join the British army. It involved providing accommodation and looking after him as one of the family for several weeks while he completed the joining up process. We didn't know exactly when he would arrive, & he turned up just a week before the wedding! He had never owned a suit in his life, so my husband took him to the local Oxfam shop & got him kitted out with one. He was immensely proud of it, and his beaming smile lit up the wedding photos. We all had a wonderful day. I'm sure yours will be the same!

Almost forgot to say, love the card too! Gorgeous papers, and such a cute hedgehog!

Love the fascinator, I wore one of these last year as I don't really suit hats and very comfortable it was too. The card is lovely and I love the little hedgehog and the paper colour combination works so well. Hope everything sorts its self out for the wedding. Nicky xx

Morning Brenda,
I would just like to thank you first for adding a link for my ebay list, I will be sorry to see most of my stuff go but to be honest I hardly scratched the surface, I have built up a shop full of stuff, don't know if that's one of the reasons I can't seem to craft much lately. ( deciding what to use )

I think I have brought more stuff in the last 12 months blogging than I ever did in the other 4 or 5 years before as a crafter, just wished I could make cards as good and fast as I can buy stash...lol

Its been a difficult time this last few weeks, there are some things going on at home, nothing to worry too much about but its the privacy issue, I sometimes forget that anyone can see my blog and read stuff about my family that I would only like to share with just a few close friends, it seems all a bit cloak and dagger but it was too upsetting to post at the time, I ended up leaving my DT work through it. It's all kind of blown over now, so I am taking time out to get some much needed stuff done to the house and then hope with a good old declutter of my home and craftroom I will be back crafting as usual again soon.

You have always been a good friend Brenda, and took time to read my posts and comment on the things I write rather than just scroll down and add a little message with nice card, I have come to notice the people who are interested in me as a person over the last 12 months and you have always took the time to listern, thank you

I need to digress, enough about me, I came to hear all about you.
I just love how you altered your wedding fascinator, I think I would have been way too scared and got glue everywhere, the colours are lovely, hope we get to see some pics of the big day and you in all your glory.
And your card is a cracker...really does make an impact, the colours work so well, you have done a fantastic job here Brenda....love it

It's onto James bedroom this morning, I haven't papered a ceiling in yonks, I think I am getting to old for all this malarky...lol

You have a great day, thanks again for the link
