Eternal City

Today sees us in the Eternal City, seeped in history where gladiators once fought to the death something Russel Crow knows a bit about. A few pennies into the famous fountain above will make sure you return, or so the saying goes.

Despite visiting this City many times there is always something new to see and I never tire or returning be it for a week or a day. It really is my favourite Capital City in the World.

On to challenges now, first Polkadoodles where the boss Nikky has set our challenge and wants us to make something generic that will work for a male or female. She also wants us to use at least two Polkadoodle products on our project.

So I have made a word book spelling BIRTHDAY which I created on the Cricut using the DS and Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. I selected coordinating papers from Candy Doodles CD.........I just love this lime and black combo. I stamped the ladybird trail from the unmounted stamp set several times, cut into strips and ran them across the bottom of each page.

The greeting on the front is from the new Paper Boutique Christmas CD, I used the Zutter to create a spine and tied it with cord and raffia.........I am really pleased with myself as I just knew this lovely lime coloured raffia from the wrapping on some flowers months ago would come in useful one day.

Next candy clue is tomorrow...........half way there now.

A spot of footie

A typical sight in Les Ramblas

You don't have to be a footie fanatic to guess this one, just put Nou Camp into Google and it will tell you which City we are in today.

I would really love to go to a game there, but it's out of season so I won't be lucky this trip, but there is plenty to see in this beautiful City including Gaudi's unfinished work, the Sagrada Família below and all the local colour of Les Ramblas.

Tonight it's onwards to Italy for Friday and my favourite Capital City in the World when I'll have another clue for you.

Monkeys on a Rock

British Policemen, Monsoon and Marks and Sparks on a huge rock and only a few miles from the African coast, oh and Duty Free and a colony of famous monkeys. It's a day to meet up with a blogging friend living in the Mediterranean sun. Where could we be today, easy peasy.

Details of what you need to do to win the candy at the top of my blog.

Tune back in tomorrow to guess our next stop in the sunshine.

Bridges and Statues

Your next clue in the candy run.......details of how to enter at the top of my blog.......is to guess the City we will be visiting as we pass under the bridge in the picture above.

It's one of the largest suspension bridges in the World and spans the Tagus River, it is an almost carbon copy of the Golden Gate Bridge. Alongside it is The Statue of Christ Cristo Rei, a replica of the Statue of Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado in Rio de Janiero. Now this one is really easy isn't it ?

We've been here lots of times so this year we will probably stay on the boat and take in the rays on our balcony, with the obligatory glass or two of something of course.

Another day at sea tomorrow so the next clue with be on Wednesday 28th when we will be getting all Colonial......there might be an advance clue there ?

Spanish clues and a baby card

Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela de Vigo

Happy Saturday everyone and as promised, here is the first of the clues for those of you who want to try your hand at winning one of my candy selections......four of them on offer and details of how to enter in the post at the top of my blog.

This first one is a bit tough, but I promise you they get easier, this place was a very difficult one to find clues for. It's a Spanish coastal City on the tip of Northern Spain but just a few miles for Portugal's Atlantic coast, beginning with 'V' ending in 'O' - it's the largest City in Galicia with a population of 300,000 and is the site if the magnificent cathedral pictured above........the clues in the name !

Now onto Allsorts new challenge which has been set by the lovely Amanda this week and she would like to see cards for a baby or child.

Before I tell you about my card, don't forget there is still a few days left to join in our brand new monthly challenge Penny Black at Allsorts where the theme this month is A Burst of Summer Colour.

I have gone Penny Black again, but the stamp is from an unmounted set and I have lost the code I am afraid, but I am pretty sure it is still available as a wood mounted stamp if not in the unmounted set.

I coloured the image with Copics, added a border punched with Martha Stewart embossed scallop from a piece of DP from stash, a couple of stamped butterflies and a computer generated greeting.

Your next candy clue will be on Monday 26th as we are at sea tomorrow.

A little candy and Spring blossom

Candy now closed - winners above - post 2/6/10
Hi peeps, by the time you read this we should be motoring through France on our way to the wedding. I have a couple of posts scheduled over the next week or so with DT work, but time has rather rather got the better of me and despite all the best laid plans nothing more than that.

So instead of being able to visit you all or leave you anything interesting to look at, here's a little candy for my blog buddies and followers.........nothing huge, but I am often asked about the beaded pins I use, so I made a collection up and have added some other bits and pieces and will split it into two so there can be a couple of winners.

Feel free to spread the word and leave me a comment and I will pick two winners when we get home next week.

And I just had to share these pictures of the May blossom in the top paddock hedgerow. I adore the beautiful white blossoms tinged with pink and the heady scent in the evenings and look forward to it every year. And if you can imagine the whole hedgerow interspersed with these bushes and trees you can get an idea of the sheer beauty.
Unfortunately by the time we return from France it will probably be over, but at least I have some pictures of it with the beautiful blue sky we have had all weekend.

So, better late than never, I am pleased to announce the winner of my Blogaversary candy is:

A Special Challenge and Blog Hop

Don't forget to add you name to this post to be in with a change of winning candy.
Good Morning everybody.

This post is rather different to my normal ones, no card just some very exciting news about something I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to organise.

On the 1st February there will be a very special ‘One Off Challenge’………with some rather special candy as the main prize. No ordinary candy I can tell you, but a really serious piece of equipment that all of us would love to have in our craft rooms.

I know I am a tease and I will be sharing some sneak peeks of the prizes on offer over the next three weeks........yes ‘prizes’ because as well as the main challenge prize, there will be runners up prizes and a Blog Hop with prizes to be won at each stopping point. And I will also be sharing details of the wonderful sponsors of this challenge and some exciting news about them as well.

But I need you all to help me spread the word and make this as much fun as possible for everyone ........and there is even a prize for doing that. Does this all sound fun or what ? I just know you will all want to get involved and join in so here’s what you need to do now:

1) Give the challenge a plug on your own blog.

2) Add the logo above to your sidebar with a link back here .

3) Link up and leave me a comment on this post to tell me you have done that so I can enter you into the prize draw for this first part of the challenge.......the winner of that prize will be drawn by Random Org on 31st January.

Can you tell I am just a tad excited about this one and I know with your help we are all going to have some real fun.

Special challenge and blog hop update

Mysterious goings on eh ?

Well, that's how I have seen it referred to in blogland several times and you could just be right ! And this is just a cardboard box ? And it takes up a big chunk of my conservatory table.

But I know you have all been waiting for me to post some more information, so I figure I can't keep you waiting too much longer so here we go...............bet you thought I was going to reveal all didn't you..................oh no, not quite yet, where's the fun in that ?

But I am going to share a couple of sneak peeks of the candy the overall challenge winner will receive. There will also be two runners up prizes which I will share soon.......and one or two more might be added along the way if the challenge proves oh so popular.........so the more of you that enter, the more candy prizes we will be giving away.

And I am also going to let on who's behind all of this, it's Sir Stampalot who are offering the oh so generous candy to celebrate their move to a lovely new shop. It's only a few doors away from their old shop, but so much bigger........you have all heard the one about the kid in the candy shop, well it's like that every time you step inside. The hardest decision is knowing which direction to go first......the buying bit sort of comes naturally ! There is plenty of parking space and of course their on line store will continue as previously.

Then there is the blog hop with ten more prizes on offer.........one at each 'blog calling point' you will visit on your way round, plus yet another prize for getting the correct answer using all the clues you collect. And of course all of those who link up and leave a comment in the post which is at the top of my blog - not this post, will be entered into the draw on 31st January for yet another candy prize. So keep your eyes peeled as I will adding more details over the next week or so. Remember, you have to be in it to win it.

Candy winner

First things first as I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who entered my followers candy. And also to all of you who have linked up to the first part of the special challenge and blog hop I am organising for 1st February. There is still time to add you name to be in with a chance of winning some candy before the challenge even starts.........and so much more candy to follow that you won't want to miss out. I will be posting later today with some sneak peeks to wet your appetites.
..............................................................................
So on to the winner of my followers candy and huge congratulations to Sue B who Random Org: selected from all your entries for my candy
................................................................................
True Random Number Generator

I have had a quick peek at your blog Sue and it looks like you are fairly new to blogland, so what a fabulous introduction to this friendly community. There is no e.mail link on your profile so please contact me with your addy etc - my e.mail link is on my profile - so I can get your candy packaged and off to you.

Candy thank you

Christmas Candy.................Hard for me to believe, but it's six months since I started my blog and I have been amazed what a friendly community blogland is and all the wonderful people I have met along the way.

As a small thank you for all the support I have received I have decided to offer some candy, nothing wild or huge just some Christmas goodies I thought might be useful. It occurred to me recently from some of your kind comments that I am very fortunate to have a such a varied collection of stamps so as part of my candy I have stamped and embossed........you got it right versafine and detail clear........a selection of Christmas images including Penny Black, Hero Arts, Stampendous, JudiKins, Denami, Hobby Art. The picture shows just a selection.

I want this to be fun and open to everyone, so there are no rules such as having to become a follower - although it is of course always lovely to welcome new friends and you get enterted twice if you do - and I am happy for you to add a link back here on your side bar to give others the chance to have a go, but it's all totally up to you. I will enter the names of everyone who comments on any of my posts from now until 24th September and will select a winner using Random Org. I am happy to ship outside the UK. Here's what I have included:

40 different stamped Christmas images
6 sheets of mixed stamped Christmas greetings
32 6x6 sheets Christmas DP's and vellum's
5 x 1.5m red ribbon
3m gold ribbon
3m red/green ribbon
Pack clear crystals
Pack silver bows and beads
Sticky pads
Roll wacky tack
2 brass Christmas stencils
20 cards and envelopes
2 packs Tara flowers

And.......a bag of sweets........not in the picture I opened them so need to buy more, but all important when crafting, helps concentration - that's my excuse anyway.
