Feminine at Allsorts and Butterfly Challenge

Morning Peeps, it's Saturday and time for a new challenge at Allsorts and this week Lynn is our host and we are going all 'Feminine' for her chosen theme and Swedish House Crafts are our sponsors. I also have a card for the current Butterfly Challenge.

Again I'm apologising from being missing from blogland, a weekend away was closely followed by what should have been a routine kidney procedure, I say should have been as it all went a bit pear shaped so not had the best of weeks and I'm back in again at the beginning of September.

I'm not convinced I like the top card, I wanted to have a go letting the inks bleed which seem to be so popular to give a watercolour effect but to me the finished article is messy. Anyhow, using my stamp platform I used my normal Distress Markers and water to stamp the Penny Black image and then sloshed.......technical term......... a bit of water around the blooms to let the colours bleed out, as I said I think it's messy rather than attractive!! And my all time favourite PB sentiment.

What with non crafty things taking up my time lately I've not joined in the Butterfly Challenge for a few weeks but was determined to keep my promise and join in the current one where the Butterfly Wheel offers: Key Lime, Kraft, Kinetic, Knots, Kobi (Pink/Lavender), Kobe (Dark Burgundy) and of course a Butterfly or two. And I've got them all albeit the key lime is a tad tenuous just added to parts of the stamped images. The DP's take in the other colours, the base card is Kraft, a TL dies provide the Kinetics, ribbons tied with a knot and Butterflies on the stamps which are both Chocolate Baroque.

This is one of my recent Hochands samples for Stamp Addicts, the show was all about inchies and twinchies and have to say I thoroughly enjoyed working on these samples and I especially love the beautiful Muse image from Judikins. I covered six inchies with G45 papers and stamped onto three of them, mounted all onto the base card and stamped and cut out a Butterfly from the same stamp set.

Happy weekend all and I'm hoping lots of our will join in our theme this time round, remember you have two weeks to enter.

Hi Brenda, I’m sorry to read that things didn’t get sorted for you and that you have to go back in September. Fingers crossed that all goes well then. Beautiful cards and the first one is actually my favourite. I think the stamp that you’ve used is perfect for the water colour technique, great colour palette too. Enjoy your weekend my friend and I wish you lots of happy crafting x x

So sorry to hear things went pear shaped for you - not good!! :(.
Loving your cards - I understand what you are saying about the first card, but for all that it is gorgeous. The kinetic card is delightful, and the final card using the muse image is amazing.
Blessings and prayers

Three so different cards...and all with it's own feel... Love the CAS-style on the first and the painted look of the flowers. The 2nd is so beautifully combined and the third has a modern-vintage feel (if you can understand thet) that I like... Hope you have time to enjoy the sunny weekend! Hugs, Gerrina

Beautiful cards Brenda especially your butterfly challenge one, the colours on your image are so delicate and the card design is fab. Sorry to read you had problems at your hospital appointment and hope you are now feeling better. Lots of sunshine here all day today so been sitting outside listening to the cricket, reading and generally relaxing.

I really do like the first one. The extra water gives it a lovely soft feel, not messy at all. Sorry to hear of your mishap with your procedure, I hope they get it all sorted out in good time for you xx

I love all of these Brenda and that PB floral one is beautifully - I love inkiness as you are well aware and the wishy washy effect of this one softens it perfectly - it's beautiful. I've got everything crossed that your return trip for your kidney procedure is successful next time for you, sending lots of love as always xxxx

I understand where you come from with the "messy" first card Brenda, but no, it is beautiful and has the watercolour look you were after. If you want to try a different technique, spritz the paper lightly before stamping (use watercolour paper).
Shame things didn't go as planned and you have to go to hospital again. Hope you are making the most of this unusually glorious British Bank Holiday!! xx

Beautiful feminine cards, Brenda! When an image comes out too messy for my liking, I add another stamped layer without adding water for a more defined outline. Hope you're doing better--sorry the kidney procedure didn't go as planned.
