Morning Peeps, wow has it been warm again this week, apparently here in East Anglia we are having some of the highest temperatures and the few days it's been 32/34 deg. Not that I'm complaining as far rather that than cold and wet, but I've decided there is a fundamental flaw with craft TV when they want us crafters making Christmas cards in this weather.
It's time for our new
Allsorts challenge and it's a two week challenge again to cover the holiday period, we will be back to normal again at the end of August. Susan has chosen the theme of 'Tags', it can be an actual tag or tags on a card. We have a super prize on offer from a new sponsor Lost Coast Designs who make some fabulous stamps. And........anyone entering this fortnights challenge at Allsorts can use the following code to receive a 15% discount: Allsorts15. I would also like to enter this into their current challenge of Nobody There here.
I also managed to find time to create a card specifically for the current Butterfly Challenge, I usually find myself rummaging through my image folders to see what might fit, so it was nice to take the elements from the Butterfly Wheel and just create.
The base of my tag is Greyboard which I coated with gesso, acrylic pain, crackle glaze and the a final coat of acrylic paint. Next I built up the colour with DI's and Dylusions, stamped the Penny Black blooms and coloured with the same Dylusions, stamped some script randomly holding the stamp rather than using it on a block and finally some stenciled dots, black sequins and seam binding.
And here is my Butterfly Challenge creation and I think I have got all of the elements which this time round are: Old Rose, Orange, Oval, Olive, Over the edge, One Layer and of course a Butterfly but as I'm writing this feeling rather pleased I've managed all the elments it's ocurred to me that my over the edge shrink plastic Butterly (which has the olive element) just might mean I messed up on the one layer element as it's not really flat. Anyhow, using an oval mask I used DI in orange and a dusky pink to ink the oval, I then removed the mask and stamped the sentiment which is from Stamp Addicts and used that as a base to ground my Lavinina Fairy. Next I replaced the mask and added more Lavinia stamps around the edges of the oval and finally add a shrink plastic Butterfly, wire antenna and fixed it slightly over the edge of the card.
Happy weekend all and please do pop over to the challenge blog to see what my teamies have made to inspire you.

Gorgeous tag and I love your butterfly card! Cathy x
Wow I ,love both these! Lovely colours and compositions, I'm inspired to have a go myself xxx
Gorgeous tag, Brenda the distressed background is perfect! I don't think the butterfly should count as a layer but an embellishment. However having used a card base/mat might be frown upon... Beautiful stamping though. We have finally had a bit of rain and a drop in temperature here, it was frankly getting unbearable, hard to even breathe! xx
Two beautiful creations Brenda.
I think the heat is getting alot down in UK. Xxx
Your tag is so beautiful! And my favorite; all the blues; no surprise there...
So good you managed all the elements of the challenge in your 2nd; boy that are a lot and it still looks so serene; clever! Hope you have fun things planned; enjoy your weekend!
A gorgeous tag Brenda and a beautiful card for the butterfly challenge. I have to say that crafting of any type has been a struggle in this heat, but I'm looking forward to doing some today now it's cooled down.
Sue xx
Both your tag and card are really lovely Brenda, loving the cool blues of the tag at the moment - by golly, hasn't it been warm! xxx

Beautiful card and tag Brenda, just come back from Anglesey in Wales we didn't have temperatures that high but gorgeous weather all the same.
Amazing tag, love reading how you realized the background and the blue poppies are so sweet and elegant!
Lavinia stamps are always amazing and you created for this one a lovely scene, so dreaming! Fabulous sentiment and butterfly!
Today I saw England and North Europe hot weather at the TV, such fool scenes! Here near the sea it's hot, but there are always clouds so the sun don't damage too much. But I'm so very sorry and worried for al the climatic changes, this global warming is making a lot of irreparable damages to Nature!! :(
WOW that shrink plastic butterfly looks gorgeous
Cheers
Dr Sonia
Wow Brenda, these are stunning-beautiful work x
Such beautiful creations Brenda, loving the gorgeous colors of the tag with the pretty stamping and inking.
A stunning Lavinia card as well, and so beautifully designed! Still haven't had time to ink up my Lavinia stamps!!
I heard about the heat wave over in Europe from my family in Germany. We're used to it over here in the midwest USA, but luckily have central air...so I am sitting here on this hot summer day inside wearing a sweater :-) (The drawbacks of air conditioning)
Gorgeous card for my challenge. I love the colours of the butterfly and that fairy is one of my favourites that you use on your cards. Thankyou for coming and spinning the butterfly wheel with me this week. Hugs Mrs A.

Love the tag, Brenda - lovely blue and turquoise there - my favourite colour! Great use of stencilling and my favourite type of background stamping, too. Beautiful!
Hope you get cooler weather after the storms - it's really fresh here, though we haven't had the rain forecast - not as hot here as it has been there, though. I sympathise. I also agree wholeheartedly about the Christmas in July thing...drives me nuts! Maybe I'm just lacking in imagination, but I couldn't face tackling Christmas in the sunshine...

I'm with you about Christmas in July, just doesn't feel right in the sunshine, although we've had 3 days of thunder and lightening and torrential rain and quite chilly!

Absolutely fabulous creations, I love the tag, I need to make time to create more mixed media items as I enjoy doing this. Your second piece is also gorgeous, the colours and beautiful stamping lend itself to being framed and hanging on a wall in any room, perfect.

A stunning tag Brenda and the colours are so pretty together. WOW love the butterfly card and the oval shape looks fantastic, might have to pinch that design at some stage x Susan x
Both are so pretty, Brenda. The blues tag has a great feel with those cool circles added to the design.
The Lavinia Fairy card is so pretty. I made some Lavina Fairy card fronts at Sue Tossell's while I was in England. She has every LAvina stamp ever made...it was so much fun to look through them all and drool over them!
Will be posting those fairly soon.
