Allsorts challenge 13

On to week 13 at Allsorts - and everything going to plan, we are in Roma, the eternal City, oh I do so love it, probably my favourite destination of the whole itinerary and even if I have been many time before never tire of Il colosseo's magnificence - if you stand quietly you can almost smell the carnage and hear the crys of gladiators falling to their demise........sorry, getting carried away here.......gosh I do hope Bloggers not playing up while I'm away otherwise I'll come back to some real unhappy bunnies at Allsorts.

The challenge this week has been set by Gro who asks us think Vintage, a style I love so really enjoyed making my DT card for this one.......well enjoy them all really, but I always feel comfy with vintage and love all the techniques to get the aged feel.

My main image is Hampton Arts DF4513 stamped with versfaine sepia onto linen cardstock and embossed with detail clear. I stamped her hat a second time and decoupaged it adding a little colour to the flower. I roughed up the edges, stamped Magenta 32090 randomly with Tim Holtz spiced marmalade, the dusted the edges with versamark and added some detail gold embossing powder.
The ripped background paper is a piece of copier paper scrunched, inked over with TH antique linen and spiced marmalade, them again with versamark and embossed with detail gold, then to add a bit of glitz a spray of gold Glimmer Mist. Added a piece of lace down the side and some gold roses and cord round the image Christine style, thanks for the inspiration Chris. The words are some unmounted stamps from Stampsmith.

Inspirational Card Sketchers 20

This week ICS have a fab sketch, don't know why but this morning I woke up thinking brown and turquoise ........ sad I know, dreaming craft, but I know for a fact that I'm not alone here, so of course this was the basis for my card.

DP's are K&Co and the image one I've had for years from Hampton Arts DF4513 - it's called 'Fan's hat' so figure this is Fanny wearing it ? The image is stamped in versamark and embossed with detail copper onto a Glimmer Misted background of ........ you've guessed, turquoise and brown - well actually creme da chocolate if we are being exact. I added a piece of lace an a flower in Fanny's hat.

Everybody Art Challenge 40

The theme at Everybody Art Challenges this week is Red and Black, a stunning combination to work with.

This colourway always conjures up Oriental to me so I have gone with a design I have used before which is very simple to enhance the colours. Image is Hampton Art 4523, stamped simply in black versafine and embossed with detail clear and colourd with Marvy pens. Vellum has been ripped and laid across one section of the image to add interest and a dragonfly embellie added along with a tassel.

Allsorts challenge one

Good morning everyone, today is the launch of our new Allsorts challenge and the theme this week is "SWEETS" and can be interpreted however you wish, colour of fav sweet, shape however you interperet sweets.

I decided on a gift box for sweets with matching cards and tag using a really nice textured cardstock. Here's how I made the box: Cut two strips of card, one 4" x 12" and the other 3.75" x 12", then score both at "4 increments, so you have three equal squares. Punch holes in each of the end squares where you want to join with ribbon and round the corners. Stick the middle square of the smaller strip onto the corresponding section of the larger strip, thread and tie ribbon to draw the box together.

I find it simplest to do all my stamping before I assemble the box, which in this case is Hamton Arts CJ4922 using versafine black and clear embossing powder. The same stamp is used on the two cards and just the ends of it on the tag which I cut on the Cricut. The verse is Penny Black 2905H and two sentiments Art Impression G463 and F3143. Finally, gems to embellish.

Distressed and glittered

It's raining, it's cold so crafting seems the only option this morning, as if I need an excuse !

This card is really quite simple but I thought the colours needed to be left to do the talking. I build up the background with TH red brick, peeled paint and mustard seed and a bit of sepia around the edges. The image is Hampton Arts 4602 stamped in versfaine black and embossed with detail clear. I bleached out the flowers and parts of the planter to add an aged look, then added stickles to the flowers, leaves and butterflies when dry.

I resisted my usual impulse to embellish and simply inked a piece of grosgrain ribbon to match and stamped it using stayzon and a butterfly stubbie from Stamp by Judith (Stamp Addicts).
