Morning Peeps, it's Saturday and time for a new challenge at Allsorts where our host is Wendy and she would like to see 'Christmas Gifts. Our winner will receive some Christmas Cracker kits from Stix2.
I decorated this candle for a recent Hochanda show where the lovely Chocolate Baroque Snakes Head Fritillary was one of the featured stamps. The above is actually me second attempt as the first went rather 'melty' after adding the first of the images which I had stamped onto tissue paper, coloured and cut out.
So I sought guidance from our Tracy Mouse who is the queen of candles (I have a beautiful candle she made for me decorated with Poppies which is in my dining room) and she told me I needed to wrap greaseproof paper around the candle before heating and it worked a treat................clearly that's where I've gone wrong on previous attempts which has always put me off doing more candles. With the three flowers in place I them repeat stamped one of the definition quotes and added a strip around the bottom of the candle.

I've been neglecting everyone, trying to keep up with AED - so sorry I haven't been to visit for a while. Free again now, apart from a minor procedure and Christmas...haven't started yet and won't until next week - eek!

Non ho mai provato a decorare le candele, questa tecnica ancora mi manca (come molte altre, del resto!) Magari nelle vacanze di Natale mi cimenterò... se avrò tempo. Grazie per aver condiviso il trucco della carta forno intorno alla candela per traferire l'immagine con l'heat gun!!
Qui oggi c'è il sole, ma domani è di nuovo prevista poggia abbondante. Spero che ci sia un po' di sole anche da te per asciugare i campi e donarti un sorriso.

Beautifully done Brenda. I made/decorated a candle a couple of times but so long ago and remember it was such a fun thing to do!

That is very pretty Brenda. I too did this technique ages ago.....in a class,...not something I care to repeat in a hurry! There were no disasters, but boy it was stressful making sure everyone was safe as well as their project :)

Hi, again, B! Your perseverance certainly paid off! This is one amazingly beautiful candle! A wonderful gift! Thanks for the tip about the final layer of paper. Did you use text weight paper, like you would have in the printer? I suppose it makes for a good "handle" to hold the candle while heating, too. Did you peek while heating? Decades ago I made some candles, and used the tissue paper, but then used wax paper as the final layer to hold onto the candle. That way, I could see through while heating it.
