Feathered Friends

Morning Peeps, time for our new Allsorts challenge and this week Ellie is our host with the theme of 'Feathered Friends'. We have a lovely Humming Birds stamp from Indigo Blu for this weeks lucky winner.

The card at the top is one made using one of the Tattered Lace Charisma range, the images in a wide range from animals, fairies, flowers etc., come on a CD in a variety of colourways with a matching die allowing you to cut out several layers to decoupage and build up. I created an inky background and stamped a sentiment which I have had for years, I think it may be from Stampendous.

Hubby bought me a collection of Groovie products for Christmas and apart from one quick play I have been so busy with DT work I've not really had time to properly get to grips with them, so last weekend look time to see if I could create something for this weeks challenge. However, although I have several different embossing plates none have birds, then I had the idea to use elements from the alphabet frame in the starter kit and pieced together the brackets and comma to form the three birds. Early days with the parchment as previously I've only done two with flowers................of course, so trees seemed the obvious next step and apart from some colour on the birds, kept the rest plain.

Have a good weekend everyone.

LOVE the first one card with those amazing birds, the colours are so bright and vibrant (as they are in Italy :D LOL) and that sentiment is one of my favourite!
Your creativity always stuns me, such clever way to make the birds with brackets and commas in the second card!!! Lovely trees on parchment and sweet soft colours!
Big hugs, have a lovely weekend and a sweet week with your son! :)

Brenda, your main bird card is stunning. I love birds - have spent so many hours watching them - and this is just such a great illustration of blue tits and the way they dart around, joyfully, especially in Spring and Summer. Love your splashy background, too - very effective. The words are one of my favourite quotes, something that really means a lot to me. Of course the second card is also wonderful, looking a bit misty and ethereal. Great theme, too :-) Thank you for the inspiration.

Two very beautiful cards, Brenda! I love them both. Just sat by the patio doors watching blue tits on the fat pellets with a backdrop of forsythia. If I could only get the birds onto the japonica I could take a photo much like your first card! I've just watched a little bit of the groovi show on Hochanda and saw that tree plate, and here you are tempting me a little bit further too!

Two beautiful cards Brenda, I love the birds using the charisma dies (tattered lace do these so well) and well done with the Groovi and the quick thinking for the birds. They look fabulous.

I love the embossed vellum. Gonna have to give that a try. I have a huge stash of yellow vellum (no idea why!!) and am trying some different techniques with that. Gonna go and run some through my bigshot and see what happens....... Thanks for the inspiration. Hugz

The birds on the first card look like they could fly right off the card - so realistic and lovely background. Great work with the groovi and figuring out the birds.

Blow me with a feather! Great minds think alike... Just this week I made card with a bird on a watercolour background with that very same quote! (it will be published next month). Great idea to turn alphabet into birds, it would be impossible to know unless told! Enjoy your Sunday!

Always enjoy my weekly visits here.... Those birds from the CD are absolutely delightful, specially against that lovely background, but it is the background on the second card that totally blew me away! Brushos?? The groovy work looks fabulous against it, well done you!!!
Happy Sunday and have a wonderful week!!

Praying you’re well and sons visit went well too,
Hugs Shaz in Oz.x
PS won’t be making a bird card, my project at moment is six year olds birthday card, and been told Mario Kart is all the go! Not heard of it? Neither had I! 😆 did trial run of the pop up slider card technique with a Christmas card so ready for Mos challenge, now just need to make the birthday card. Had great swim yesterday till we were scooted out of the water with a shark scare life never dull!
