Robins and Poinsettias

It's time for our challenges at Stamping Sensations and Penny Black and More where our themes are 'Add a Christmas sentiment' and 'Anything Christmas', I know they are much the same but it's a perfect opportunity to double up. As always there are wonderful prizes to be won at both.

My frame at the top is one of a bundle I bought cheaply and are really good to work with as the canvas board insert comes out of the frame to work with. I gave everything a generous coat of gesso, then the frame was covered with blood orange acrylic pain, dried, a think coat of crackle glaze smeared on with an old credit card and when that was dry a coat of an off white acrylic paint...........always love that part watching the cracks appear.

I stamped some PB ferns with versamark and heat embossed with detail gold powder. I painted the canvas insert with the same off white paint, more stamping with the same fern, then gold background stenciling and then the PB Holly. The poinsettias were stamped using distress markers direct to stamp and the cut out with the coordination PB die. Finally a PB sentiment. The Poinsettias were cut from snippets of Fabriano so I am going to pop over to the Playground with his one.

My Stamping Sensations piece uses more PB stamps and distress markers, I just inked the fence and trees to the left of the image as I wanted to add some larger branches (using the same stamp as the frame above) to the top right of the scene. I then stamped two little PB birds and coloured them to look like Robins, a PB sentiment, Pan Pastels for shading and then a splattering of white frantage.

I do hope you will join us at the challenges this month.

I love your frame Brenda, both the crackle and the Poinsettia are gorgeous! Your Penny Black snowy scene... perfect image of a winter's day, very nearly photographic. Another stamp I'd love to own! Have a great Sunday, xx.

A super, distressed frame with a beautiful stamped image inside, this will look fabulous hung on the wall Brenda. You have such talent for creating these beautiful scenes as in your second piece and I love the Frantage you've used to give that snowy feel.

What a treat for my eyes on a Sunday morning :) Your frame is a real beauty Brenda and the Poinsettia looks so real, it's fabulous. I love your second card too. It's such a tranquil, snowy scene and it really captures the feel of winter. I've admired this stamp so many times and each time I see it, I always looks completely different. I think it's definitely one for my wish list. Have a lovely Sunday Brenda. Crafty hugs, Sandra x

Hi Brenda, Gorgeous frame with canvas and card. I love how the poinsettia turned out, at first I didn't realize it's the same stamp that I used recently. I already looked for the matching die, but didn't find it... must try again. I hope you are doing well, Shirleyxx

Oh B! This is such a fabulous snippets make - along with your card as well. As Alice says above (she stole my words!) - it's art!! Lovely to see you in the Snippets Playground, I know you're soldiering on and it's uphill most of the way.

As for sitting in loungers dabbling our toes in the Caribbean, sounds like pure bliss - I can be packed in the wink of an eye! Ah, but 'who carries who' to the plane - I know, we nab one of those buggies and whizz along like Thelma and Louise :)

Take care and I hope it's not too long before you feel an upturn and are leading the Playground Gals in mischief once again. Parsnip is missing his 'partner in crime'!

Hugs
