Blogger dashboard changes

Most of us have now got the new Blogger dashboard changes and from what I am hearing most share my thoughts and dislike it with a passion.

I started a post on Blogger forum here where people have been sharing their thoughts.......all negative so far. There is also one "expert" comment asking people to send feedback to them.......little orange tab that comes up bottom right when you are in the new so called dashboard.

If you only have the one blog it might not affect too much, but if you have nine to deal with as I do it's a total nightmare. Yesterday I intended scheduling posts on the various challenge blogs and I can't begin to tell you how time consuming and laborious it was and in the end I gave up.

I know Blogger is pretty intransigent but we can but hope strength in numbers just might get through for once, so please if you share my thoughts on the changes please do send feedback on one or even better both of the suggestions above.

I hate it and submitted a feedback form already this morning. I also posted on Facebook and invited others to do the same. As you say strength in numbers, will check out the forum.

Hi Brenda I totally agree I started a post yesterday and gave up and did it later it took ages. I have six blogs to manage and its so time consuming navigating this system. Would love them to return to the old format as I cannot see any positives in this new layout pushing everything into the sidebar. I did send feedback no reply yet.I may send again but did notice the feedback seeemed to be going to Google. Well done on getting this together to put peoples views Love and hugs Carole x

Just added my feedback B! Totally agree with you, even with ccc ones am finding I still need to drill down to get to my own blog. Looks like my days on a DT may be numbered as I truly can't be doing with the complications.

That holiday in the sun, with no internet, looks an even better prospect ☺

Hugs

Hi Brenda, I couldn't agree more! Even with only one blog, the new layout is so not working for me. I loved opening Blogger in the morning and seeing all of the new post in my reading least along with an indication of any new pending reactions. Yesterday, I 'discovered' that you had posted a new reaction, because I happened to click on the Reactions option, 2 hours after you had posted it, even though I had Blogger open before my nose. I was so frustrated, I immediately sent my feedback using the orange tab. As a work-around, I have now created 2 bookmarks in my browser: 1 for pending reactions and 1 for my Reading list. This is quicker than scrolling and repeatedly clicking in Blogger. Still have to figure out a work-around for my iPad.

Hi Brenda, when somethings not broken why do 'they' always have to fix it? I can see where your frustrations arise. Fortunately I only have a few blogs and don't moderate my comments so I'm not finding it too bad. Will send feedback anyway though about leaving well alone.

Totally agree Brenda. I only have 3 blogs but I ended up near to tears just trying to find how to write a new post. The button was hiding under a pop up notice saying all my blogs were now in the side bar. I had to click on GOTIT to close it down. I was comepletely frustrated (not something I can be dealing with right now)and took all day to do my post. It looks very much to me to be in email format now. I think that blogger as we knew/know it will soon be past. Hugs Mrs A. p.s. I haven't even tried to open it on my Ipad yet as Marianne mentioned in her post above.

Hi Brenda - thank you for your comment on my Snowman card. I have just seen this post and have already added my comment as I dislike the new blogger - not sure why the changes were made to something that was working perfectly well!

Added my 2 pennies on your thread, gave my feedback to Google too. I don't like it either and the Dashboard that told me if there was activities on a blog has disappeared so now I have to actively get in each blog to check. Not happy!

I couldn't figure out what had happened to Blogger yesterday and thought it was just me that had it wrong - so pleased to read your post. The old one was fine - and the new format is not user friendly - just about to leave them feedback - do hope it gets changed back...!!

I sent feedback as soon as I encountered the changes. What were they thinking? People like you who administer multiple blogs must find it so frustrating, I know I do!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't understand why the change, but it doesn't seem to impact me as I only have one blog to manage at the present. However I will also add a message to them mostly to say why the change ? It's not better. :) Take good care, xxx

Thanks for the link to the forum Brenda, I have left a comment there and used the feedback button. Personally I don't think Google give a damn what we think and will just carry on doing what they want regardless. I can't see that there is any improvement, just more hassle and time wasted. With this in mind I shall wait a week and see what happens. If in a week's time nothing has changed I can see no option but to close my blog after 12 years...

I don't like it either, Brenda, but fortunately I only have one blog to deal with. I hope they listen to the feedback. They have not been very responsive before so I am not very optimistic. Sending hugs!

Must admit I haven't really had the time to check out the pros and cons of the new dashboard to form an opinion but if I find a chore I will leave a comment on the forum. Thanks for visting my blog and sharing the forum link.

I only have one blog to manage, but I preferred the "old" dashboard. I liked see the new posts of my blog friends in the main page.
I have already sent my feedback by the orange tab.

Brenda, I _think_ I've left a comment. I've not had as difficult a time as you are, but it's been annoying things, that take me more time to leave comments. I don't really understand a lot of things with blogger, so I only know that I've lost followers, can't see all the followers at the top as I once did, and am getting prompts at some blogs to choose a profile, (when logged onto the only profile I am aware of having!). If I try select the blogger Google profile, then all I see is a blank box with nothing in it. So I can't choose a profile anyway! (and I've made sure I'm logged into my google account too). I wasn't certain if it was my error or something with the new dashboard stuff. Take care, and thanks for the heads up. Hugs

It's totally crazy. I own three blogs and am a contributor to many more, and I really have no need to go straight to the one that's posted most recently - in fact common sense would tell them that, out of several blogs, the one we'd LEAST want to visit is one that had just posted!
On top of that, the remaining blogs are arranged in alphabetical order rather than posting date, so one blog that I have never published on and keep solely for testing new ideas for layout and formatting is right at the top of my list where it will never be needed!

Oh and it's making me log back in after every 4 or 5 comments I make - that is most definitely not an improvement!

Yea, I do NOT like the new dashboard. I've been away for a week or so due to illness and when I logged on it was like 'wheres my blogs? Wheres the blogs that I follow' I don't like change.

Hi B went and commented on your post but fur some reason it chose my you tube identity so it shows up as gumnut.
I'd already gone onto the post on blogger buzz update letting us know of the changes and put a big whinge on it, I am hopeful it might work ie protests will be heard.
Pray so anyway.

Hi Brenda,
I totally agree with you it must be a total nightmare for you.
I nearly posted my own post on the DT post when I suddenly realized it wasn't my blog.
It sure does create such a hard way of doing things.
I suppose it was someone who had to justify their wages that changed it.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Hi, Brenda. Not only did I leave the following Comment, but I also started a new discussion that specifically addresses the notification of pending comments. It is located here:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/blogger/1aJUR7iT0T0;context-place=forum/blogger

Hi, unfortunately, when creating the new Blogger "dashboard" format, someone at Google neglected to consider administrators who moderate several blogs.

SUGGESTION:

The old blogger dashboard allowed Google's users to see (in a single glance) all the blogs which a user administrated or contributed to. Previously, a red clickable link indicated how many unmoderated comments were on each blog, making it effortless to address each comment in a timely manner and respond appropriately.

Under the new format, each blog must be selected, then "comments" must be selected, and finally, we must click on "awaiting moderation" JUST TO SEE IF there ARE comments requiring our attention. It's cumbersome and time consuming, especially for those who administrate several blogs.

I miss being able to see this feature at a glance (ie: blogs have a waiting comment to be moderated).

Will you please consider creating some sort of dashboard that contains this information? Perhaps next to the name of each blog in the new pulldown menu? My suggestion would be a simple number in parenthesis would work. For example:

NAME OF BLOG (3)

It would at least flag that there ARE comments requiring our attention. We could click on the (3) and address the 3 comments. That way, Google's users are not having to needlessly spend time searching for the possible comments needing to be moderated. The current new format is really a big step backward in this regard.

Thanks for your consideration. (I use 27" iMac, latest Sierra OS, latest Chrome browser)

To be honest, I have never been disappointed when succinctly explaining my problem/concern on this forum, and have always been afforded courtesy and help. Let's hope this time they will help as well. Years ago, Blogger was going to completely do-away with the Blogger profile, because they felt it was no longer pertinent. But enough people wrote to the forum explaining WHY the Blogger Profile is superior to the Google Plus profile, and Google has not only maintained the profile, but enhanced it a few times. I think people need to concisely explain exactly why there is a problem, and the steps they must take to fulfill certain tasks, in order for the techies to fully understand where we are coming from. There are so many types of blogs out there, that we forget Google may not think of Challenge Blogs or Company Display Blogs. Just letting you know. Thanks for starting the ball rolling! xo

Hello huni, so very sorry to have not visited your blog in such a long time. Thankfully I am back and I am slowly finding my mojo and working around the changes on blogger, grrr why do they do it to us?! I've only just found the reading option when I'm looking at and uploading to my blog. I hope and suspect you have found it now but just in case you haven't when you log in choose your blog from the drop down option and go to the bottom of the page and click the reading list option. It's taken me a week to notice that thing down there lol!

I hope you are feeling much better now hun and I will be back soon to check out your beautiful creations xx
