Winter Flowers and Fauna

Morning everyone, a new Allsorts challenge where I'm your host with the theme (pretty predictably) of  'Winter Flowers and Fauna'. Prize come from AALL and Create.

Been a nightmare week, two poorly doggies, eye surgery and iMac working at snails pace after the Sequoia upgrade. Spent Monday on the phone with Apple, four 'experts' later it was lifeless, their theory the hard drive had gone. It's only three years old, so decided to take it to the Apple Genius bar in Cambridge leaving them in no doubt it was working before their 'experts' got involved. It's now up and running again and no charge.

More Vet visits, screen rest after more laser treatment to try and prolong my vision and three days without a computer means little got done, I do everything on a desktop as can't see phone and tablet for more than a few words, so you'll understand the lack of blog visits.

Back to craft and a fairly simple card above, masked a central square and what is probably my favourite Christmas sentiment stamp, Penny Black Hope is Born, wood mounted 4227K (2008/9). After inking around the aperture I stamped Lavinia small and large Holly, Berries, Leaf Creeper, Woodland Fern and Moss Flowers which I decoupaged and added stickles. The flower and berries on the envie look pink, yet I used the same pens so guess down to the different surfaces.

For this one I used A&C
Pheasant (454), Pinecone (389) and Seasons (455) which you can still find from some stockists, but prices vary so look around. I also used a mixture of Lavinia worker stamps to create a partial wreath around an inked circle, a mixture of Versafine and Elements inks and a matching envie.

See you all soon, meantime my appreciation for our visits.

Two wonderful Christmas cards. Love the masked square idea - which I will try to remember for a future project!

Sounds like a dreadful week. Hope your eyes recover well following laser treatment. Also hope vets visits helped.

Decent of Apple Genius’s to fix the iMac for free - but only fair as their “experts” killed it in first place! X

2 beautiful vibrant winter cards Brenda, love the way you incorporated the flowers with the seasonal foliage on the first one .. I recently got the larger holly and now can’t manage without it! The pheasant card is also lovely and very striking with the Lavinia foliage. Sorry you’ve had such a stressful week .. I noticed you weren’t around as much so hoped all was ok with you. Hope the laser eye surgery was helpful, hope the dogs are better and glad you’ve got your computer back ok … xx

I bet you're glad that the week is over Brenda, definitely a nightmare! I do hope that your vision is improved after the laser treatment. Hope the dogs are doing ok too- I hate it when they're poorly, such a worry. Glad you got the computer fixed too, not as important as your eyes and the dogs' health but very frustrating to be without it! I think you did amazingly well to produce these two gorgeous cards under the circumstances, I think I would have given up, sat in the corner and cried! Hope the week to come is much much better!
xx

Both cards are quite lovely with the delicate flowers and pretty little birds you always manage to work into your cards. I'm so sorry you've been having so many issues to manage, but hopefully your eye sight has been helped with the laser surgery. As for the computer woes, I use a desktop too and every new Windows update throws things into complete chaos for some reason and I 'm having to learn a whole new level of patience as things slow down to a grind. I'm glad yours was finally fixed at no charge thank goodness. Wishing you and your two dogs better days ahead and hopefully things will calm down on your end. Hugs and best wishes for better days ahead. Hang in there.

Sorry to hear about your traumatic week especially your computer problems. I am glad they sorted it for you. I do everything on a iMac too and mine is now 7yrs old and getting slower especially when opening things. Love both your card and such good use of masking and inking xx

2 beautiful cards, love them. Hope your eyes settling - i can't get on with small tablet/phone screens either, and the touch screens don't like my shaky fingers. Glad they fixed your computer and i really hope the doggies are feeling better. Sending big hugs and positive vibes Emmaxx

Going to try the masked square idea, save me some money on the Stencils lol! It looks so effective and can't believe that is the same pen on the envelope. Your second card is wonderful and a reminder to me that you don't always have to have a full wreath!

Lovely cards Brenda, pheasants are taking refuge in our hedges at the moment as the neighbours shoot on Saturdays next door. Its quite amusing when they walk on the decking and look in the patio doors, the dogs are stunned!!. I hope the coming week is a better one for you all xx

Hopefully I'll get into a better routine in 2025, so I won't be so late getting to your blog. I do love seeing your beautiful work! Hope the doggies and your eyes are better. Computer issues are just a nightmare. We have to get a new one to move to Windows 11, unfortunately.
