Masculine

Morning everyone, a new challenge at Allsorts and this week I am your host and given tomorrow is Fathers Day a theme of 'Masculine' seemed appropriate, plus I know it's one that pushes some of us (me included) outside our comfort zone so really is a challenge. Prizes come from Craft StashHighlight Crafts and AALL and Create.

It's been a long whilst since I bought any new Penny Black stamps as the cost of them in the UK now is pretty prohibitive. But I had seen a couple that really appealed for landscape scenes so decided to treat myself and here's the result of my first play. Above alcohol inks using a puffer and heat gun to move the colours about to create a (sort of) scenic feel then stamping with black archival ink. The sets used are Panoramic and just the trees from Snowy Village.

The same sets used here onto a Pan Pastel background and Fox and grasses from Lavinia. I felt the fence and bushes needed some Birds so managed to mask the wire on the larger stamp to add a few.

Two great cards using that newly acquired scenic stamp - I can see how you were tempted to purchase it and I guess it will turn out to be very versatile and well worth getting.

You've used those new stamps to great effect Brenda, these scenes are fabulous. Not sure which background technique I like best - the vibrant alcohol inks or the subtle pastels, both look wonderful.

Those birds on a wire look beautiful in both cards. I love the bright blue and lavender skies on the first with that wonderful green grounding but the 2nd is amusing with the fox having second thoughts of being able to reach the birds that are up so high. Great stamping and coloring for the challenge.

Love the blue sky on the first one, if only we could see one more at the moment! There's a real ethereal quality to the inking using the blower. The second card is so tranquil although some might disagree with a fox on the prowl!

Love that alcohol ink background on the first one. It has turned out brilliantly. such a great scene. The second one looks so different. I like the softer look from the pan pastels too xx

Penny Black have fabulous scenes stamps! Such a shame they are so expensive over here. You made wonderful scenes with them and the alcohol inks background does a really good impression of sky and grass. x

I love the vibrant background colours on the first card but I also love the more muted tones on the second one. Each has lovely silhouette stamping detail and perfect for those male recipients.

Fabulous scenes Brenda the fences and gates really appeal on a practical level, I don;t think there would be any danger of the horses nibbling those!! Hope the show went well and there were ribbons!! xx
