Birdies and blooms

By way of explanation as to my no show anywhere this week, Margo has been in hospital with meningitis, on intravenous antibiotics and anti-viral drugs for almost a week and had numerous tests including a lumbar punch, such a lot for a 20 week old baby. She and Mum Anysia came home Thursday evening and taking it a day at a time. Plus Azaria tested positive so I've spent a lot of time on the phone giving moral support to them both in the absence of Mum, add extra horses to look after as well means craft has taken a back seat.

Fortunately this post and my work was scheduled a while back so I've just updated. It's my turn to host at Allsorts and my theme is 'Anything Goes with the option to add a stencil'. I also have a card for the Butterfly Challenge, which I meant to post during the week but you will understand the delay.

I really do enjoy using stencils, the one at the top a simple stencilled background using DI's and the AALL and Create Wire Bird main image stamped with Versafine Clair Twilight a couple of stars from the same set and the small birdie stamped above the word again from the same set.

Above is my Butterfly Challenge card, I've been fascinated by the Triple Point cards I keep seeing so had to give one a go, I went for a 7x7 card blank and used the same process to create the shape which I was surprised was really simple. I used Oxides to create the background layers following all four colours 'Tan, Tickle Me Pink, Tea Green and Thistle', the latter for the stamping of the Butterflies. The focal birdie is AALL and Create Toucan, yes, it's yet another using their stamps but I have been invited to create some samples with their stamps so very happy to do so as I am loving their style and quality.

A Gelli Plate background, acrylic paints brayered onto the plate, then white paint brayered onto a leaf stencil, spritzed with water and pressed onto the plate and a little gentle pressure all over, stencil removed and the card gently rubbed over the plate......I always use a decent card with the Gelli Plate. I know paper is cheaper and lots use it, but for me, especially if I am going to stamp I find card gives a far more professional finish. I also like to heat emboss my stamping if the background is acrylic paint, ink it will dry given time but I prefer to seal with EP, usually detail clear onto whatever colour ink I've used.

I then stamped the flower from the large AALL and Create image onto a piece of card spritzed with Oxides, using Versamark and details white EP. The sentiment which is part of the stamp has been stamped a second time.

My thanks for your visits and words of encouragement.

Three more stunning cards Brenda .. fabulous colour fade with the Lavinia stencil on card 1 and love that arty bird stamp, very interesting fancy fold on card 2 (maybe I must try that … ) and beautiful gel plate background and stamping on card 3. AALL & Create certainly do some fabulous stamps… Textured Florals is my new favourite.
So glad Margo is now home, and keeping you in my thoughts for continued improvement. Also see my comment on DT blog about other health support??

Beautiful cards Brenda, lucky you had the post organised ahead, blogging and crafting must be very low on your priorities list at the moment when your family needs your support. So sorry to hear that the baby has been in hospital with meningitis, glad that she is home now and hope that she is soon back to full health.

All are such beautiful creations, Brenda. Great job on the triple point card, such a unique design and loving those colors! But my favorites are the first and last, I just love the pretty stenciling on the first one with those gorgeous Aall and Create stamps stamped in black. And your Gelli Print card is amazing! I must retry again with my acrylic paints. I really love how the stencil design was added with white paint. And of course the large flower is gorgeous!

Good to hear Margo got to come home. It really is a lot to deal with for such a little baby! Hoping her health improves quickly and that there will be good news from the test results!

I hope things continue to improve on all fronts.

Fabulous selection of cards as always. I love the graduation of the colours in the stencilling on the first one and that beautiful bright flower against the lush greens on the last one. The point card is wonderful too and on my "to do list" as like you I have seen so many and want to try it too.

Oh Brenda, so sorry to hear that baby Margo has been poorly and hope that she is recovering well. What a dreadful worry for you all. I hope that you are okay and taking care of yourself too and that Azaria isn't suffering too badly. We have a particularly high number locally with 20+ patients recording positive results daily and we are a relatively small practice of 5000 patients. Your cards, as always, are wonderful and I do have a praticular fondness for that cheeky toucan. Keep well and if I were closer I would help with the horses in a heartbeat xx
