Blooms, Butterflies and Oriental Fans

It's the first Sunday of the month so time for our new challenges at We Love Chocolate Baroque and Stamping Sensations and also River of Creativity. Our themes for this month are 'Beautiful Blooms', 'For a Lady' and 'No Mushy Stuff'.

Chocolate Baroque are back on The Craft Store this Friday at 9am and 1pm so I have been mega busy the last week or so creating samples, there are some old favourites in the show as well as three absolutely stunning new stamp sets. One in particular I could have continued creating with had there not been the need to get them off in the post, I'll say no more and leave it to your imagination what it might contain!

Above I have used the lovely Geranium form Flora and Fauna which will be included in the show, there are some beautiful images on the set and I have absolutely no idea why it wasn't in my stash long ago. I used Oxide Spray Rustic Wildreness to colour some CB Black and White Papers, the brown to the left was accidentally picked up from the dampness on bottom of my 'spray box'.....aka an old Amazon box, but I quite liked the contrast. After stamping the image with Versafine black I coloured with Distress Markers, stamped a Butterfly onto two circle offcuts coloured with Oxide and placed on the side to balance the colour.

A little note about River of Creativity, it's a new challenge aimed at all types of crafting, the creations from my teamies are diverse and display perfectly the aim of the challenge which is not just cardmaking. There is a focus on highlighting individual entries throughout the month, so if you've not heard of us yet, please do pop over to the challenge blog and check it out.

This months theme is 'No Hearts or Mushy Stuff' and this is my take using stamps from Stamp Addicts and a bit if paper folding to create the fans which I stamped with an Oriental stamp and Versafine Clair.

I used Crafty Individuals Fly and Be Free for my Stamping Sensations piece, stamped onto an Oxide background and placed into a frame,  I buy packs of five from Amazon, they are really sturdy and perfect for painting with acrylics and adding crackle glaze. I stamped the Butterfly twice more onto vellum, coloured the back and decoupaged.

My second CB piece uses the beautiful and always popular Crackling Rose and Artistic Affirmations. An Oxide background, Kitsch Flamingo and Twisted Citron, the Rose coloured in with Distress Markers and some which pen flicked about.

I really hope you will join us this month, myself and teamies always look forward to seeing everyones takes on the themes.

There is always so much to admire in your posts Brenda! One card in particular has wowed me today and it is your Oriental fan card. I love the colours and the CAS design and the very idea (of making the fans) is out of the ordinary. x

A stunning collection of cards Brenda. I love the geranium and the industrial background that you have given it. I can see I'll have to get my CB stamps out from the back of the cupboard.

Wonderful showcase as always brenda...your creativity is so varied. The fans remind me of the oriental phase years ago. Very pretty stamped with stamped paper. I am sure we all have oriental stash in our cupboards still! All beautiful in their own way . xx

The Geranium card is my favorite this time, what a beautiful stamp and the whole stamp set is just gorgeous and really a must have (along with those black and white paper which you inked up so beautifully)!! But each creation is so unique and beautifully done!

I'm scrolling down just saying wow, wow, wow. I've missed those geraniums on the F&F set - I see it also has a poppy! Love how you've used it and those sweet little fans are brilliant.

Another wonderful display of Creativity Brenda. As you know I adore the Asian Themed Fans which will be showcased on River of Creativity on the 22nd. Each of your other cards is a beautiful and distinct word of art in it's own right. You are simply very very good at your craft. x

Love all these, Brenda, but especially the middle two - it's a while since I've seen Asian fans. My Yahoo group loved Oriental swaps and books. Lovely memories and boxes of stamps I haven't used in years. Love the colours on the third one - a great mix of brightness, my favourite thing. I'm off to check out the challenge soon.

Beautiful Brenda, love the beads for the butterflies body.

A really impressive display of samples Brenda. I love the geranium card particularly. My father, a lifelong gardener, used to grow bright red geraniums in his later years before he died and they always remind me of him. Vicky x

I love your geranium, and the background to it is fabulous. The Rustic Wilderness is striking with the red of the Geranium. I haven't seen anything oriental for some time, so refreshing to see your lovely fans. Your Crafty Individual Butterfly piece is stunning and my favourite on this post.
Happy crafting

Time and I have had a serious falling out and if I ever catch up with it I will be nailing it to the wall with a ball and chain thrown in for good Measure!!! Your first card is a delight to look at. I love the bright red colouring. I feel an Internet shopping spree is in the air. Well actually nothing comes into the house unless ordered on line!! Just ordered a new mat for the summerhouse and been told it is on its way already. I can't see that I will ever go back to shopping the pre covid way. Hugs Mrs A.
