A lightbulb moment

Morning Peeps, it's Saturday and time for a new challenge at Allsorts, our host this week is Helene who would like to see 'Candles and Lights' and there's an A/G option as well, our prize this week comes from Stix2.

Afraid I've not been active in blogland for a few days, our little Poppy has been in hospital and there's been a few touch and go moments culminating in a tracheotomy on Wednesday when she stopped breathing. She was transferred to Dick Whites Referrals, a specialist veterinary hospital, still needs more tests but hoping it's a manageable problem and nothing more sinister, she's a real little fighter in true Terrier fashion.

I have used one of the recent new Chocolate Baroque Hochanda TV releases for my card above, this one was called Lupin Blueprint. A brayered background onto linen card stock, the large lightbulb from the set stamped several times to the right, the the lupin and bulb stamped, coloured and cut out and placed into a die cut black circle. Some stencilling with texture paste, washi tape and sentiment from the same set heat embossed with details whit EP.

As most know I don't enter challenges, mainly because my sight is failing and I struggle with all the links so tend to save my screen time for my challenges, but I do make the odd exception and really wanted to support Gail in her new Let's Squash It challenge. The idea is to use embossing folders, something most of us have but don't use often enough, so here is my card using a Tattered Lace Christmas Holly folder and a Penny Black focal image and sentiment.

Whatever you are doing, I hope you have a good weekend.

Two fabulous cards Brenda, I love the lightbulb card and the Autumnal colours you've used. We do need to turn the lights on earlier these days now it's getting darker. I love the Squashed card too and the vibrant green card you've used on it. Hope Poppy gets better soon.

So sorry to hear about Poppy, hope she recovers well. I know how hard it is when your furry babies are ill. Sending lots of hugs. Love your cards, they are beautiful. x

Two very different and very beautiful cards from you today Brenda. Your lightbulb moment really conveys the lift you feel when a lightbulb moment hits, you get a lightness of mood which your card provides beautifully. As for your second card, well green is my favourite colour and this is such a lovely shade. I am so glad Gail and Jo started this challenge because embossing folders are really amazing, I just don't know why we don't use them more often. I do hope poppy is OK in the end, and you can enjoy your weekend without worrying about her too much xx

Two wonderful cards Brenda. I love all the amazing colouring and stamping on your lightbulb card.... and the stamp on the secoend is perfect with that fabulous embossed background xx

Your cards are wonderful Brenda and no-one would ever guess your sight was failing. Both of these are stunning and the light bulb image is amazing. You've used the embossing folder beautifully on your second card and that bow is so professionally tied. I must be the only crafter in the country to have only two embossing folders which I rarely use so I don't think this new challenge is for me!!
I'm so sorry to hear about Poppy - have emailed you.
