Embossed Poppies

Morning Peeps, it's Saturday and time for a new challenge at Allsorts, our host this week is Kath and she would like to see 'Embossing, wet or dry'.

A diversion from my normal style using the Groovi Board hubby bought me the Christmas before last which hasn't really seen enough action. Among the folders he gave me with it was one with Poppies......of course.....and that is what I have used here.

It's been pretty abysmal weather this last week............but we did need the rain for the  hay, crops and gardens. So not spent too much time outside other than some tidying up which yesterday was in the form of collecting pine cones from under the trees before cutting the grass as they always mash up in the tractor blades. I always smile when I see bags of them being sold in garden centres for ridiculous prices when we have barrow loads of them every year...........am I missing an opportunity?

There's always a Lab to help, here in the form of Holly who would far rather pinch one out of the wheelbarrow that go collect her own which she will invariably roll on until it's flattened. And below you can see the new ones forming already and so the cycle of Nature continues.

Have a good weekend everyone, not sure how many of you have ventured out yet, for me it's 15 weeks (as it has been for the rest of the household), actually thought it was longer until I counted yesterday.

But don't think I'll be going anytime soon, when the GP rang last week she urged me to continue to shield if at all possible and realistically I have no need to go anywhere, we are lucky to get regular Waitrose/Sainsbury or Tesco deliveries, plus organic boxes from Riverford. I've also had a couple of fruit and veg box's from M&S and very pleased with them, all delivered packaged in a chilled box and as fresh as in store........yes I am missing my regular trips to their Foodhalls a tad!!

Your poppy card is beautiful Brenda and you’ve coloured them beautifully....perhaps you should sell your cones to a garden centres!

Brenda your poppy card is gorgeous and it looks wonderful in the scalloped circle. Obviously you are a sweet, caring, honest person that isn't looking to make a living off of pine cones. However, since you have more than you need there is no reason why you couldn't sell some. Since it does cost plenty to buy craft supplies or if you would feel better you could donate the money to charity.

I love your gorgeous card Brenda. Your helper with the cones reminds me of my little dog Jed, (no longer with us) he liked nothing better than chasing the pine cones that were accidently kicked when out walking.

You really must have gone into Zen-modus; your embossing looks so good!
It is good that the gardens had some rain (here mostly the last 2 days and last night was one long rainshower) but glad we can sit in the sunshine again... All those weeks make it clear that there are a lot of people that don't like their home; they complain so much and it looks like they don't have any hobbies (besides going shopping, dining and wining)...to me it is so strange that they don't know how to get the days over without leaving the house and garden...and we don't have such a big garden or house... We have fun together and enjoy our time together and our hobbies... Hugs, Gerrina

This is such a pretty card Brenda, those poppies look beautiful.
We've been back at school since the 1st June. I work in year 6 and we have 12 children in our 'bubble'! It's very different to the normal way of doing things, but we do everything we can to keep the children safe.
I love the barrow full of pine cones! They cost a fortune to buy and there's so much you can do with them especially in school!

What a surprise, poppies! It's a lovely card Brenda. We are still staying home although I have started to have a little walk round the village in the afternoon now. It's very quiet and if I do meet anyone we carefully "distance". I don't think I ever want to go to a supermarket ever again, quite happy to get everything delivered although sometimes the substitutes are a bit odd!

You should use your groovi embossing set up more often as I imagine it is very calming to sit and create such wonderful pictures. I love the circle of poppies and the lovely colouring xx

Lovely colouring Brenda, your shading of the poppies is so delicate!

Your pinecones are indeed untapped riches... what with your talent you could tart them up and sell them as xmas decorations (profits towards a well deserved holidays or charity of your choice!). You'd have to keep them dry until autumn though..

Went into town for the first time this week to get an idea of what it looked like during confinement and it was quite eerie. The supermarket however was pretty much the same but with less customers in it. I can't wait for the shops to re-open to get the things I need but I am concerned it will be too busy at first. x

Your card is so beautiful Brenda with the soft colors and how wonderful are those poppies!
That is a lot of pine cones, so many crafts that could be done with them, I can imagine a beautiful wreath already!

What a gorgeous card Brenda, those beautiful poppies look enamelled. Holly and her pine cones, seems like a perfect pairing to me and how thoughful of her to roll on one of those rather than fox or badger poo as our pooches are wont to do!! We have had lots of rain and the fields have taken on a greener rather than brown tinge now. Take care xx

Not ventured out same as you. M& S fruit box arrived this morning and veg box is supposed to be with us by 9 pm tonight. Both coming via different couriers for some reason. Quality is always excellent. Will be doing battle for a Sainsbury slot later for next week. As not going anywhere don’t need any new clothes or shoes so the shops will just have to manage without my business
I am afraid. Looking at the precautions that each of the different shops is having to adopt will kill off trade. Half the fun of shopping is browsing and trying on items..The new normal is going to be vastly different from the old and
I am beginning to think
I am too past it anyway.,
Have just bought myself a grovi system to cheer myself up, but haven’t had a play with it yet. We have pine cones in abundance here too.
Hugs Mrs A.

Hello Brenda, your card is gorgeous, beautifully designed and colours, it's such a delicate design.
Love photo of Holly with the pine cones.
I'm afraid I buy the scented ones for Christmas, you should think about making the bags up yourself....if you have a spare moment, lol, enjoy your weekend, Kate x

A really super creation (as always) love the gorgeous background and the lovely subtle colours of the image.
No idea what a 'Groovi Board' is.

Yehhhhh a Groovi card, gorgeous Brenda.
Love the pics, that pine tree is the type we have here and the procession caterpillars live and breed in them in January sadly, very dangerous and can kill dogs so we have to be very wary of them.x

An amazing card Brenda - that image is so delicate. I have never heard of a groovy board before! Must go and find out about it :)
My DIL goes out gathering pine cones - it's become a bit of a family activity for them, especially as DS often knows where trees are being felled, which makes for easy collecting of large quantities!
Thankfully New Zealand has had 23 days of no new cases of C-19, so I am feeling pretty safe venturing out.
Stay safe
Blessings

This is gorgeous Brenda. The embossed vellum is so delicate looking, like embroidered linen, and the poppies have a beautiful translucent look. Your photos are lovely as always too. Lovely to see Holly with her sweet face - and always wanting to 'help'! It's fascinating seeing the new cones forming on the trees isn't it. And yes, definitely missing a trick there! Vicky x

Eautiful card with a lovely poppy image Brenda. Great photo too. Must admit M & S food hall is the one place I am really missing, so many things I love to buy from there each week Lorna gets a few things for me when she goes but I don’t like to ask her for too much, maybe things will get better sooner rather than later.

Gorgeous and adorable card.
It's been really hot and dry here, luckily we have the lake to pump all the water to the flowers and greens;-))m

Stunning card, Brenda. I might have to get that Groovi board. What a wonderful stash of pine cones, think of all the pretty wreaths you could make with those. Holly, is so lovely.

Other than to walk my dog, Fergus and a blood test I haven't been out for twelve weeks but I've been keeping busy with creative things and a couple of courses. Stay safe. Creative Blessings, Tracy x

You are totally missing an opportunity with the pinecones, you would make a fortune selling them :)

It's a wise choice to keep the social distance, stay safe!

Stunning colors and design Brenda. Wow that is a lot of pine cones. Our weather here has been thunderstorms and heavy rain.

Oh what a beautiful card, Brenda! Love seeing Holly with the wheelbarrow full of pinecones! And yes--you're missing an opportunity! I'll never forget hearing about the woman in the desert who advertised tumbleweeds for sale as a joke & it turned into her business!
