More from the Serengeti

Morning Peeps, I hope everyone is staying safe and well, such difficult times for everyone in the World. I'm house bound, a text from my GP said I'm vulnerable health wise so advised to self isolate for 12 weeks.

So have been speaking to eldest daughter each evening on the phone, we can see each other across the courtyard, she's a senior ethics tutor so required to stay in school to teach the children of the key workers. And I was able to see our eldest son on TV the other day when he addressed the Commons Select Committee on how the Police are dealing with things. I guess you call it remote family interaction, the others are keeping in contact by phone as well but of course won't risk visiting this weekend despite it being Mothering Sunday in the UK.

I was pleased to hear some supermarkets were saving delivery slots for such as myself but try getting one, non of those who deliver in our area have a single one for as far as their calendars go which in most cases is three weeks. I know I'm not alone and it's worse in some parts of Europe but it's sobering realising this could go on for months.

Now onto our new challenge at Allsorts where our host is Tracy who would like to see 'Anything in the Animal Kingdom'. Stamp Addicts are our host offering the winner a £15 store voucher.

Stamp Addicts showcases some new Judikins stamps on Hochanda this week, so it's a perfect opportunity to share another of my DT makes for the shows. On the piece at the top I used both the large and shall Giraffes on a monalinth which I gave the acrylic paint and crackle glaze treatment before stamping the images, then stamping some again to decoupage.

And another card featuring Lavinia Hares and a little Fairy, all stamped in Versafine Clair and as I felt the background using Oxides and cling film was a tad dark I used some pale pink EP to emboss and lift the lavender in the foreground and ferns across the top

Take care and as always my thanks for your kind visits and words.

I loved the giraffes but got mesmerised by the Distress Oxide background... so perfect for these fantasy Lavinia scenes! I'm hoping the shopping/delivery slots will improve soon as people stop stockpiling (I mean surely they will run out of space, money or freezers?) for everyone and especially for the people that can't go out. Glad you are keeping safe, Brenda.

Beautiful tag and fabulous scene and colours on the second. I know what you mean about the online shopping we have managed to book one on the 10 April, until then we will have to rely on our daughter shopping for us and leaving it in the porch , neither of us have been out for the past two weeks as we are in the over 70’s group so we have had video calls with the children for two birthdays this week. The one bright side is the weather has taken a turn for the better with sunshine forecast for the coming week so at least we can get out in the garden. Stay safe and try to have a good weekend.

Well Brenda, I love giraffes so of course the first card appeals to me ad as for the second...well that's lush, super, all the expletives you can think of. I LOVE it! Glad you are keeping safe amidst the sad selfishness of the Brits!
DO take care of yourself and those you love...we will get through this...sometime! Hugs xx

Living a rural life is generally so sweet, but when things of this nature occur, it's a bit tricky, isn't it? I hope your issues are soon resolved, and that you stay well clear of the COVIC virus, Brenda. As for your creations - your giraffes brought a huge smile to my face with the trio of happy faces looking straight at me! LOL and the tiny loping giraffe is a perfect touch. But it is the second Lavinia scene that I really like with those amazing pink and black tones! WOW! Such drama! The pale pink EP is WONDERFUL! I wish I could have watched you make this background because it is BEAUTIFUL. It's the color intensities that bring out the dramatic look! WOW (I say again!). Thanks for sharing! hugs, de

First both are stunning cards and loved the colour schemes.
We isolated to the cottage, we can go out anytime, cause there's nobody else! Can't visit or send anything for my mother, as the care homes are all closed from outsiders.
Take care and all the best;-))m

Both super creations Brenda, but the pink and grey card is amazing! Love those colours together and the pink embossing lifts it beautifully. Very wise for you to be self isolating.I know what you mean about supermarket deliveries, it seems impossible to get one. I'm just hoping that the restrictions the supermarkets are putting on products will improve matters.

Difficult times indeed Brenda, if not a little scary. My Mum has co-morbidities so, like you, is self isolating but is keeping up beat and knitting.....lots!! I love your tag, the giraffes are wonderful and bunny background is incredible, really atmospheric. Keep well xx

Both are so beautifully done Brenda. Loving the colors and scenes and the ribbon is so pretty on the tag!

You are doing the right thing in staying at home especially falling into the vulnarable health category. It's good that we have social media and phones nowadays to keep in touch with our loved ones.
I don't worry too much about the situation but follow the guidelines as well. We're now on a sort of lockdown in the state of Illinois, but allowed to shop for neccessaties or take walks outside just not gather with others, so not much different than what I've already been doing the last couple of weeks.

Hello Brenda, now i watched that interview with the police officers, fancy one of them being your son. It's hard not being able to have the close contact with your children/grandchildren, and I feel it especially for those in residential care where family can't now visit, just awful, but I guess necessary.

Your cards re stunning, the first one is amazing with the giraffes and the wonderful earthy colours, and the hare care is so ethereal. Love them.

Keep Safe Brenda, Kate x

Difficult times indeed - I have been advised to self isolate too - not an easy time, but living in a smaller community with friends and family handy has it's benefits, even if they have to 'drop and run' when they bring me anything.
Loving both you projects Brenda - so very different, but both stunning
Stay safe
Blessings

Love love love the Lavinia hares card and your giraffe tag is gorgeous.
Very strange times Brenda, we are not allowed out, only 1 at a time for necessary journey, only 1 can walk the dog or go shopping, at least the shops are stocked mostly anyway, xxx

A great tag Brenda, the background looks fabulous.
Love the little scene on the fairy card, the background looks quite magical and the pink foreground stamping really adds depth.
It's hard, but the best thing to do is self isolate and try and stop this virus from spreading as well as taking care of yourself - Thank goodness we have phones and internet.
Stay safe, Avril xx

This card is an absolute beauty Brenda and I love your background. I also love the beautiful baby pink against the grey, it's fabulous. We are living in very different and trying times and it's so strange not seeing the kids today. Thank goodness for skype and facetime. Take care of yourself. Crafty hugs, Sandra xx

I love your gorgeous tag and the beautiful Lavinia card too Brenda. Self isolation is going to be hard but the sensible thing to do too. Hubby and I were in the Yorkshire dales until Friday with friends. Everything was carring on as normal there, but we did notice that the motorway was less busy on the way home and although you could get a drink and food at the motorway rest areas you were not allowed to sit and eat. Safely at home now.

Keep safe
Sue xx

I love both your cards Brenda I like the way you have added the crackle to the first one and the colours of the second are beautiful . We will all have an excuse to do more crafting in the next few weeks . We are also self isolating which is ok for a short while but months !!!! Thank goodness we have phones and computers to stay in touch with our families .
Take care Jx

I love the backgrounds on both these pieces and the pink embossing on the second really does lift it, beautiful. Hope you manage to keep your supplies going and good luck with your 'shielding'. I think that's what they are calling it now, rather than isolation xx

2 beautiful cards dearie. I love giraffes so your card has made my day. Your 2nd card is stunning too. Such talent. Stay safe sweetie, glad you're keeping in contact with your family. Every little helps doesn't it. I've been staying in the last 2 weeks too, only walking my dog away from people. Big hugs and love xxx

Your card is so beautiful Brenda. I do hope you have had a food delivery sorted by now, absolutely terrible to thing some have some much while others have nothing! Take care xx

Your card is really pretty. Love the splash of pink colouring. Am spending most days on computer toggling between two different food delivery companies to see which one lets me (a) into the site, (b) log on and (c) book a slot. Thought I had finally cracked it last night. Got right to end of order with 1.5 hrs left before I would loose my slot, went to pay and told site down try again in a few minutes. Tried a total of 5 times to pay for my shopping with no luck and had to frustratingly sit and watch my time slot run out. Nothing at all today on either site. Even though we are in the vunerable age range and Hubby not well we will have to venture out at the weekend for food. At least it has been a nice day weather wise. Hugs Mrs A.

Beautiful work, Brenda! I love the addition of the pink on the card! Please stay safe. Can't imagine no delivery slots for 3 wks! I picked mine up outside the store & it went very smooth, thankfully.

Forgot to say--Happy Mother's Day. Glad your family is keeping in touch without putting you in danger.

Your giraffe tag is amazing Brenda and the ribbon you chose for it is perfect. What an expertly mystical background you've created for your fairy scene too.

I know what you mean about the supermarkets - the trouble is they are just not set up to take the load. That said, those that are vulnerable should definitely be prioritised - but because this is unprecedented, there's no facility for that either. It's good that your family is in touch and will be able to help you. My thoughts are with the people that are putting themselves at risk every day because they have no option, and those that are alone with fear.

Sending love, Vicky x

Beautiful artwork Brenda and hope you're managing to stay safe and remain positive in these very troubled times.
It feels very surreal to see empty streets and hope that it clears up soon.
At least we have crafting to keep us sane!
