All about Pets

Morning Peeps, it's my turn to be your host at Allsorts this week and I would like you to join me in celebrating National Pet Awareness Month and RSPCA week, a charity very close to my heart. It's also National Veterinary day this coming week as well. So my theme is 'All about Pets'.......any animal you would find in peoples homes.

Animal have always played a huge part of my life.........you will find some of ours on the 'family friends' page at the top of my blog, we have dogs, cats, horses, chickens and ducks........and I have to admit some days when it's tough going I prefer spending time with them rather than people. Their love is unconditional and they always seem to sense when we need that extra bit of love, that might sound crazy to those who don't have pets, but I am sure those of you who do will be able to identify with exactly what I am saying.

For some years I have donated cards to our local RSPCA charity shop as well as my other charity of choice the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket and naturally I have found some Animal related prizes which you can find over at the challenge blog.

Obviously I had to incorporate both horses and dogs in my DT pieces this week and the top card is one I made for the lovely Bev at Bee Crafty using some of their recent stamps, the tree, horses and birds. I started with a Distress Ink background and then added the images after which I used a piece of torn paper to ground the horses and tree. I used Distress Markers and a spritz of water on the tree and pulled out the colour with a damp brush and stamped the horses and birds with Versafine Toffee. And of course I had to sponge in a few sunrays.

There is a right mixture of stamps on this one, Stampscapes, Art Impressions, Sutter and I think the girl and dog are Clarity. I stamped all the images first and then built up the colour with Pan Pastels and Distress Inks, plus a sun mask, bleached out some colour from the cows - well they are Fresian's  so they had to be black and white and dragged out some colour on the cottage.

And a card for the current Rudolph Days challenge over at Mo's, not entered for a couple of months due to all the kidney faff and my enforced absent from blogland so didn't want to miss it again. I had this one already made and as it has the black Lab on it I figure it fits in with my Pets post rather well. Penny Black stamps repeat stamped to extend the scene, also a PB sentiment, Pan Pastels, some glitter and of course a masked sun.

My team mates have lots of pet inspiration to share and I really hope you will pop over to the challenge blog and take a look and of course join in this weeks challenge.

Lots of inspiration here, Brenda - lovely animals. Aren't you blessed to have so many friends, lol? I can only dream about horses but I'm in the process of getting a dog, which is really exciting. It's a long time since I lost my four legged friend and I couldn't replace him until now, but the time is right...I think!

Great stamping and a lovely variety. Love those cows!

Glad to see you're stamping again - hope you're feeling much better and improving every day.

Oh wow Brenda - such beautiful cards and made all the more beautiful to me with my obvious love of animals! I just couldn't agree with you more - I prefer them very often to the human kind!!!!! If I get a chance I'll try and muster something up for this one as it's so close to my own heart. Really impressed here Brenda - well done you and these all made me smile which I think is a fabulous thing when it bounces out of your artwork. Lots of love xxxx

Well I've scrolled through your Family and Friends page Brenda and been so charmed with all these gorgeous animals, what wonderful photos of them. I love they way the dogs are posing in the first one, it just screams "look at us". I adore animals and have loads of Grandpets, and that includes, dogs, cats, a tortoise and reptiles, obviously the reptiles are uncuddable, but still fascinating.
Now your cards are fabulous, wonderful images and designs, as always your scenes are brilliant, hope you are having a lovely Sunday, Kate x

Back again with my official hot off this time!

Loving the scenes. Especially the first with the horses. We grew up with horses and I managed to have ponies for my kids when they were young. They were Pony Clubbers and linked 3Day Eventing! Such great memories rushed to me shen I saw your card.

My 11 year old grandaughter rides a horse that her uncle keeps for her. They are about 20 minutes away and she loves to go there every other day. Every day if she could. Her brother stays with us and plays cards and games as he is not horse mad, yet!

I am going to check out that link you mentioned as I really like these stamps. The cows are also wonderful. My Dad kept Black Angus cows and a reddish type that I forget the name of. He told people he raised horses and beef cattle but actually just raised the cows to get the income tax farm write off as he could never send any animal he owned off to be consumed. He had such a lovely heart!

Hope you are stronger now and have offered prayers for your health.

These are fantastic Brenda, love the scenes, totally gorgeous. And I totally agree about the love from our pets. In fact on Saturday we are going to pick up a new addition to our family. She's a 1 year old cat called Lydia, she's from the rescue centre and is for Jodie. Jodie is paying for her and is going to contribute to her keep. We normally get kittens, but decided to give a home to a rescue cat this time.

happy crafting
