Snippets, Fairies and the naughty corner for me yet again

Good morning Peeps, how's your weather, we have had dully dreary days and nothing but rain for days now and I am well and truly fed up with it, although I guess I am not alone here. How nice it would be to see some frosty nights because that does tend to lead to some sunnier and brighter days.

I have a couple of shares today, those who know me are aware that I don't often enter challenges, mainly because my eyes won't let me spend ages doing all the linking up so I tend to save my screen time to dealing with the challenges I run. I know that sounds a bit churlish but sometimes you just have to prioritise. But there are one or two challenges that I do try and make an exception for and enter when time allows so here we go........................

Snippets Playground, we've been having rehearsals for the Nativity Play and are all hoping for a part, but Miss Di has not been in touch so I am guessing sneaking in the mulled wine and bottles of white (that was Kath's fault, not mine, honest) means I've not got a part and will have to spend time in the naughty corner...............again, either that or I will have to wear that awful donkey outfit yet again. And for those of you reading this who don't have a clue what I am rabbiting on about and just might...........quite understandably..........think I have totally lost the plot, why not head over to the playground and join in the fun.

Butterfly Challenge where for this one Christmas challenge would like to see Fairies instead of Butterflies so was an easy ask.

Fashionable Stamping Challenges where the theme is to create your own backgrounds, I've never joined in this one before but my teami Shirl from Vintage Stamping Challenges left me a message on my Allsorts post saying why not join in with that card. Unfortunately that was posted a day before FSC's challenge was posted so I thought it only right as I love inkiness to find another card to enter.

And I had better add a bit of an explanation about which is for which and how I made them. The top card has a background cared using an acrylic block, inked with distress inks, spritzed with water and stamped directly onto a piece of 600gsm Fabriano card. There really is no right or wrong way to do this, simply repeat stamp with the black until you have a pattern that you are happy with.

I then stamped the Penny Black stamp over the background and again twice onto some offcuts of Be Creative Vintage Collage papers and paper, cut out and pieced adding two layers to decoupage. The sentiment is also Penny Black and I would like to enter this into FSC and Snippets Playground.

My second card uses Lavinia stamps, stamped with archival black onto a background of Pan Pastels and a rather over sized masked sun. Some glitter here and there and of course on the Fairy wings and some organza ribbon to finish. I would like to enter this one into the Butterfly Challenge.

I am bust working away on Tattered Lace samples ready for CHA early in the New Year and there are some scrumy new products but not able to share them until closer to the time, but I do have some using the new hexagon box are dies which launched last week I will try and post as soon as.

Have a good week all.

Can't wait to see your card on the catwalk Brenda it is so delicate looking with those tonal Blues and browns. Love the technique, a very old and tried technique but it never ceases to amaze me how the backgrounds always look so unique when done.

The other card is also stunning and just by adding the hint of purple it makes everything all the more magical looking. Gorgeous and very pretty.

Absolutely beautiful cards! I'll have to join you in the naughty corner as I've been off soaking up the sun on holiday and missed all the rehearsals for the nativity play. I fear Miss Di is going to be conducting things from a horizontal position this year - and I don't mean from too much mulled wine!

Hi Brenda - how lovely to see you in the Playground and with such a beautiful snippets card too. Wonderful background you created and the PB flower stamp is just fabulous! The decoupaging is such a wonderful way to use the image - I love it!

Also love the fairy stamped card too of course :)

Don't fret about the Nativity Play casting, I wasn't in on the decisions but am currently being eyed up by a flipping big vulture that was delivered this morning from our local Bird Sanctuary. It arrived with some brightly coloured paints and a note to set to and 'dolly the bird up' - plus a crutch. Since when was there a part for Long John Silver in a Nativity Play then?

Hugs

Your cards are wonderful Brenda. I especially like the Lavinia one.

I'm sure you'll get a part in the Nativity Play . . . Mrs A (the casting director) is totally open to bribes. You'll get a REALLY good part if you offer to look after the Elf that's moved in with her!

Hugs, Sarn xxx

Both your cards are fabulous Brenda. I love the 1st because it has been made with a poppy stamp and I love poppies in any colour. The second I'm just drooling over. But wait I spy lilies and bulrushes and I don't have those stamps. I take it they are Lavinia stamps. I'm hot footing it over to their site to check them out. I feel a little spend coming on!! Gorgeous colours and I'm honoured that my challenge is one that you enter. If you check out my comment on Miss Di's current challenge #207 you can read an update on the nativity dress rehearsal. I will say no more except you might just be needed for the Donkee!! Thank you for fluttering by my special fairy challenge this month . Hugs Mrs A.

Totally love the first card and not sure if I have seen that stamp but I am sure I need it.
Another totally brilliant scene with divine colours on the second card.
Oops hope I don't have to go in the naughty corner now, as I may not get my glass of white, which will not look too good for Angel Gabrielle.

Well, I'll be in the naughty corner with you...mainly because I just haven't been 'showing up' very much. I hear you about prioritizing, and sad to say, sometimes Life just gets in the way (along with a big case of LAZY). So if I make it over to the Playground, I'll be looking for you...and Kath too! Love both of these cards..the inked blocks made a pretty grid background for this wonderful PB image. (that is one of my favs!) Also loving the fairy card as well. Splendid background with the ppastel sponging...and loved the falling dewdrops. Wondered if that was 'frontage effect' or perhaps some glossy accents drops? Whatever, it's a very pretty effect. Can't wait to see your CHA shares, if you can post it here. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and hope that 2016 brings wonderful health for you. Hugs

Two gorgeous cards Brenda, love them both as blue and brown are my favourite colour combo and then fairies are my favourite stamping subject. I'm hoping to get some time over the Christmas period to make some projects just for myself and in a style that I choose rather than for customers orders. Don't get me wrong I love making these orders but I then have to fulfil other peoples brief for colours and subjects and it's not always to my taste. You sound very busy already making samples for CHA next year, look forward to seeing them soon.

Brenda these are two absolutely gorgeous cards. They're both stunners. I couldn't choose a favourite. You offer to have that elf for a day and I'm sure Mrs, A will give you a part in the Nativity play. Barbxx

Gorgeous cards, love the backgrounds in both. I have that beautiful Lavinia fairy, she has been sitting a drawer much too long. Take good care, Shirleyxx

Mrs A. said...

Well actually now you come to mention it could you do a spot of backdrop painting for the nativity? A few fluffy clouds and some camels coming over the hill would look really authentic. Not forgetting the Star of course which needs to be quite big and shiny. How much glitter do you have? If you could bring it all by on Friday at the last dress rehersal that would be fab.
p.s. You can pick the pesky elf up at the same time!!
Hugs Mrs A.
pps. Very sweet of you to follow both blogs. I will be Casting in January 2016 for the next nativity play and as you already have the wings I will put you down for Angel Grabrielle.

These are both absolutely amazing Brenda, you always come up with the most beautiful cards. So creative! And yes you had me go looking at what Snippet's Playground was all about :-)

Well, I can't really complain about the weather, because we had a nice sunny day today (even though it was quite cold), but I wouldn't mind some snow. Christmas is just around the corner and I really wish we'd have some snow on this most wonderful day of the year (imo), but it looks like there won't be any. *sigh*
Now, aren't you one clever lady! I LOVE how you used acrylic block to create the background for the first card. I looks fantastic! I wonder why haven't thought of that yet. *doh*
And the second card is magical. You really created depth there and those soft colours you used are perfect together. As I said - magical!
Hugs! xx

Love how you paper pieced the flowers and the patched background. The fairy card is so sweet.
