This week Jo chose our theme at Allsorts .......... 'Autumn Leaves and Trees', a perfect excuse to get out the inks and tree stamps of which I have rather more than I care to admit.
My scene transports us back to the days when horses were the agricultural manpower, before my time but I remember hearing many stories as a child about one of my grandfathers who was a horseman on a local farm. And by coincidence the original and oldest part of our house was a horse keepers cottage and I have often wondered if it is anything like the one my great grandparents lived in and raised the eldest of their 10 children, the farm I remember was one they moved to years later.
I stamped all the images with archival black ink and colour the whole picture with Pan Pastels and added a hand drawn fence. The poem Autumn by John Clare is the perfect accompaniment, but it's an awfully long poem so I just selected two verses and carried the Pan colours and stamping around the verse. The stamps are Inkylicious and the horse and plough Stamp Addicts.
Needless to say I thoroughly enjoyed making this piece and hope you like it well.
My second card uses some images from this weeks sponsor DigiStamp Boutique, it's actually a new home set and I coloured and cut out the houses and trees, then added some scenery and additional stamping and think it looks quite autumnal.

Oh Brenda, my Dad would have loved this! It is what he used to do many many years ago. I used to scan the shops for these sort of cards, and they were so rare at the time. Lovely! Judy x

Beautiful cards Brenda, l love the first one with the traditional scene - such a beautiful piece of work. How tired those farmers must have been working the land without all the modern day machines, our local fields look like tanks have been over them recently as the ground is so wet and it looks like they have been cutting silage. Love the autumnal theme on these beautifully coloured cards Brenda. The first one is my favourite as it is so much like a very old black and white photo I have of my Father, ploughing a field with a horse-drawn plough when he worked on a farm (taken around 1930).

Amazing cards Brenda. I think the first one is my favourite. I don't remember working Clydesdales but I think my eldest brother does. He is 12 years older than me though!! Love how you've coloured and put together the houses and trees in the second one.

Two wonderful cards Brenda...interesting hearing about your grandfather. I volunteer at our Museum and was there on Friday and we were talking that during WWII a lot of the machinery was taken from farmers and they were given horses and donkey's in return for their farm work.
