The scene behind my house

Hello all, hope your week is going well. I confess to being a bit tardy this week and not getting a lot done, it's been one of those weeks where the pain has kicked in a bit more than usual and I've not been able to get a proper crafty head on, not least because I've not been able to sit comfy for very long.

I had a long chat to my physio this morning and she suggested a few things to try until I see her next, but I think we both know it's a bit of a lost cause and I have to accept my mobility is not going back to where it was before this latest relapse. I'm seriously considering a small mobility scooter, it would be much lighter than my wheelchair and might go in the boot of my little MX5 so I can get out and about a bit more without having to rely on others all the time, that's the main problem living in the sticks, you need a car to get anywhere.

Just the one share of a card I created a couple of weeks ago for Sir Stampalot using a new La Blanch tree stamp that came my way after an appeal for more trees when they visited CHA in January. As my mate Sally will tell you, a girl can never have too many trees, a bit like shoes really. I used Adirondack inks watermelon, peach bellini, butterscotch and meadow and archival sepia to stamp the tree and deer's which are Art Impression. The fence, wire and birdies are all hand drawn with a fine line marker.

The scene could be looking up behind our house, although when we see a Monkjack deer, it's usually a solitary one, they are such pretty but shy characters. And that means the birdies are pigeons happily perched cooing away on the wires above the paddocks, it's a sound I love to hear as I sit crafting. It doesn't take a lot to make me happy you see. Although the hills are artistic licence, it's as flat as a pancake here in the Fens.

Enjoy your day, it's looking like sunshine again today.

Hi Brenda, this is a very pretty scene, idyllic in fact and I wish it was the view from my window :) Sorry to hear you are in pain at the moment - I hope it eases of again soon. Regarding the mobility scooter, it might be a good idea. My late mother had angina and it took her a few years to persuade herself that it would be a benefit and it was ... there are a lot of braes in the village where she lived and the scooter made the climbs a dawdle for her. After she died my sister, Margaret, who has MS, inherited it and used it for a good few years. I think it did become too heavy for her to manoeuvre by herself eventually but in the meantime it gave her greater freedom and independence. Based on their experiences I'd say, go for it! Take care. Sorry to hear you're having a rough time. Love your hand drawn details & I know what you mean about the birds - we regularly have a conference of crows in the woodland at the back & though no deer the odd sheep wanders in if the back gate is off the latch. They're very obliging if you ask them to leave though.
Take good care.

It is a beautiful tree, Brenda, and another addition to your tiny collection! Reminds me of the view from the cottage we stayed in last year in Suffolk. Hope you have less pain soon. Those colours look fabulous - great combination. Who cares about shoes? tree stamps and Adirondack inks - we can never have too many!

So sorry to hear your in pain,I think a scooter would be a good idea. My son's girlfriends Mum has MS, I spoke to her on the phone the other day. She falls allot so tries to do little in the day when her family is at work. She gets bored as you would, I suggested crafting but her grip is so bad she can not even write properly. She is a lovely brave lady with such a sense of humour I wish I had more answers.
At least you have your crafting Brenda and you are so talented as your very beautiful and wonderfully crafted card conveys.
Thinking of you and hope things improve.
ps did you no Julia aka the glitter chick had a baby girl?.

Oh Brenda Im so sorry to hear that youve not got back your mobility from your last relaspe Im sure the mobility scooter will give you a lot more freedom out and about, I know my daughter uses a wheelchair when shes out but she does need someone to push it for her.
A stunning card though, I love that scene wished I could see deer from my window we can hear the pheasant calling though, hes a noisy creature. hugs Shirleyxxx

Such a stunning card, a true work of art. I'm sure a scooter would be great for you, I used one when I broke my hip and found it really useful. xx

Such a shame about the mobility problems - I suffer myself and know how it can affect you. Love the card - the "balance" is just right. I so like the birds on the wire, it looks so effective - I know Barbara Gray showed us how to do it a few months back, but I still cannot get it right !!

Lady Zelah said...

What a lovely card - the layout is so well balanced without being "organised" (if you know what I mean). I know that Barbara Gray showed us how to do the birds on the wire a few months back, but I still cannot get them to look right !!
Hope you feel better soon

Fantastic scene....I was wondering how you masked that tree so well to get the lines in. :-) Neat hand drawing. I hope with the weather improving it may help with some of your pain. Thanks so much for all your lovely comments over my way. :-)
