Lavender and Lace and Saturday candy

It's yours truly's turn to host our theme at Allsorts this week and I have chosen 'Lavender and Lace'.

I have used this gorgeous shoe from one of Jo's lovely new Let's Create stamps sheets called Victorian Pleasures and also the rose frame from the Victorian Frame set........if you want to but some of the stamps follow the link and you can mail Jo direct. I stamped the shoe, cut out and added the smallest amount of watercolour, then added some lace and ribbon. I then placed it into the frame, cutting the edges of a couple of the leaves to lay over the toe of the shoe. Some memory box leaves and two roses made from Tonic punch and stamp rose set.

Now to announce the winner of last weeks candy who is Astrid, congratulations please mail me brenda@ibas.co.uk with your postal addy.

This week I have a  little collection of ribbons, flowers and embellishments to give away. As usual a winner will be selected at random from all comments left this week, if you visit more than once then more chances to win. All you need to do to be in with a chance is:

1) Be a follower
2) Pop the Saturday Candy logo from my sidebar on your own blog

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Poppy fields

Good morning Peeps, it's Birthday week here in fantasy land, yesterday it was hubby's today it's mine and our grandsons and on Saturday one of our granddaughters.

I've had loads of cards and goodies from my crafty friends and will be opening them all shortly, but in advance can I say a big thank you to all.

And I thought I would share my card from hubby, now I could say he made it but of course we all know that's not the case as it's one he selected from my card basket, but one I would choose if it were down to me. A simple masked background of Pan Pastels and stamped with Inkylicious Poppies and Penny Black Aspire, two swallows and of course a butterfly. I used Hero Arts ink pads which come in a lovely selection of vibrant colours and work very nicely with Pans.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Am I in Aussie ?

The title says's it all about one of the cards I designed for tomorrows Stamp Addicts programme at 2pm on Create and Craft........................I made it upsidedown !

I didn't actually realise until I saw a photo of it on Sarah's blog showing it opening from the left and initially thought it had come adrift in the post, but no I added that gorgeous Noel sentiment upside down so am totally mortified as there's not time to get another one to her. If she decides it's worth using it on the show they will all be having a laugh at my expense, but I've a good sense of humour so will laugh with them for being such an ninny.

So here it is.....card the right way up, sentiment upside down and what miffs me the most is that this is probably my favourite card from all the samples I made for this show.

The backing panel was embossed with a swirl folder and them lots of lovely gilding wax in gold and red, the sentiment stamped onto black gloss cardstock and old gold perfect pearls dusted over.

And here is the left handed photo with the sentiment the right way up.

Bodge up apart, I really love this sentiment, it's so elegant and I think it will get lots of use........hopefully the right way up.

The card at the top uses the tree stamp from the Holly Christmas stamp sheet, stamped with black archival ink and then brayered to create the sky and foreground.

Have a good evening everyone, I've not managed to get into blogland today as it's been busy at work, but hopefully I will find some time later.

Out of the box and Saturday candy

At Allsorts this week Helene would like us to think 'Outside the Box' and give something a different use in life. And this week we are sponsored by DigiDarla.

For a week or two I had been thinking what I could so with a lovely corrugated box that was a gift at Christmas containing oil and vinegar..............I have a bit of a fetish for boxes, corrugated, carrier bags......get the idea I am a self confessed hoarder. Then a germ of an idea presented itself and this is what I made, I don't really know what you would call it, perhaps a sort of shadow box.

Anyhow, whatever it's called this is what I did. I cut a sheet of Centura Pearl to the size of the box and stamped (on the matt reverse side) the little row of children which is a Clarity stamp and repeated it three times, then added a couple of trees before creating some hills and sky with Pan Pastels.

I then fixed the panel to what were the dividers between the bottles and fixed into place. Finally I added some Memory Box leaves and flowers made with Tonic Pick of the Bunch Carnation punch and stamp set and I even utilised the green raffia that was tied round the original packing, tying it round the whole box to hold the ends in place.

I can't wait to see what you all come up with this week, but I am thinking there will be a lot of recycling going on.

Nearly forgot to announce the winner of last weeks candy who is Rosie, well done please mail me brenda@ibas.co.uk with your postal addy.

This week I have a pretty set of Hero Arts stamps. As usual a winner will be selected at random from all comments left this week, if you visit more than once then more chances to win. All you need to do to be in with a chance is:

1) Be a follower
2) Pop the Saturday Candy logo from my sidebar on your own blog

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Christmas in June ?

Using the dove image from Snowflake Splendour stamps sheet, stamped onto a background of Pan Pastels and Etched Flourish stamped round the edges

Morning everyone, hope your week is going well. A a warm welcome to my new followers, it's lovely to have you aboard.

As promised some shares of the samples I have been working on for Stamp Addicts next show on Create and Craft which is Tuesday 25th at 2pm. Christmas in June is hard going for me as I said the other day, but I managed to get the seasonal spirit going long enough to get my bundles of samples finished and on their way to Sarah.

Using the Noel stamp.....it's gorgeous and is a card all on it's own with very little added........stamped onto black gloss cardstock with Versafine and gold perfect Pearls dusted over.

Using the Christmas Pudding stamps from the Christmas Holly stamp sheet

Thanks for looking Peeps, have a good Thursday. Soon be the weekend again, wonder what the weather will have on store for us, lets hope it's a warm one.

Summer flutterbys

Good Morning Peeps, thanks so much for all your lovely comments and thoughts on my last post and I admit to having a few smiles as I read your ideas on what the ladies were drinking................iced tea of course, why on earth didn't I think of that instead of letting my secret out of the bag ?

Bad, bad blogger this last few days, so sorry for the lack of visits but I have been so busy making  samples for Create and Crafts Christmas Launch week which starts tomorrow. There was a delay with the stamps arriving as the courier apparently lost the parcel so there was not much time to turn the work around. I will share a few of the rather nice stamps very shortly.

Christmas in June always seems a bit previous to me, mind you I had a magazine Christmas consignment a few weeks ago so should be in the swing of it by now. Always seems I have trouble focusing on the season so early and especially before I've even had my holiday and then by the time it comes to needing cards myself I am well and truly fed up with season and want to move on to Spring.

So I have a little share and a mid month reminder about our challenge at Penny Black and More and Stamping Sensations, the theme at the first is CAS and the second is Summer Blooms, do pop over to the challenge blogs to see what the DT have created and to check out the fabulous prizes on offer.

My card above for Penny Black and More is another in the Stampington magazine collection which I posted at the beginning of the month. The whole set used distress inks Mowed Grass and Salty Ocean and the same Penny Black stamp sets as the brief was to create a set of cards using the same products and colourway. I used the corner stamp to create the band across the bottom alternating the colours, then inked the butterflies with the same inks and spritzed with water before stamping, a few pearls for the thorax's and wire antenna..........not totally convinced this is allowed in CAS cards  mind you.

Have a good day everyone.

Afternoon tipple and Saturday candy

Good Morning, Saturday again which means a new challenge at Allsorts and this week the lovely Jo would like to see creations on the them of 'Time for Tea'.

Now I will confess that when she came up with the theme I immediately knew I wanted to use as the main image, however I really did think they were drinking tea, but a closer look confirmed they had glasses not tea cups. But as I explained to Jo I don't drink tea, can't even abide the smell of the stuff so my afternoon tipple would be an espresso or something with bubbles, so the bubbles won the day. But I should stress that as it's only afternoon I would dilute the bubbles with some orange juice for the sake of propriety - yeah right !

So, after stamping the focal the image with black archival I masked it to add the paving stones, tree and branches, then coloured with Pan Pastels and a bit of shading with watercolour pencils and finally added some flowers and birds and a ribbon down the spine of my card.

Now for my Saturday candy and afraid it's been a bit short on the posts this week, but still some lovely comments, thank you all I really do appreciate them and Mr Randon Org., has selected Pearl, well done please mail me with your full postal addy and I will get your stamps in the post to you.

This week I have a collection of bright and summery papers and embellishments on offer, as usual a winner will be selected at random from all comments left this week, if you visit more than once then all comments will go into the draw. All you need to do to be in with a chance of winning is:

1) Be a follower
2) Pop the Saturday Candy logo from my sidebar on your own blog

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Stampendous P107

A funny title, but those who know me will probably have a smile as it's my all time favourite stamps that comes out time and again in classes and demos.

I hope you are all OK and a warm welcome to my new followers, this is going to be another short post as although my balance has improved if I sit or concentrate for too long the world still goes on the move so it's  everything in short bursts. As I said last week.......C'est la vie avec MS, but there are those far worse off and I am not complaining just frustrated when my wings are clipped.

My card is one I made a few weeks ago just for a bit of messy fun, the background is Dylusions fresh lime, cut grass and pure sunshine, overstamped with a Visible Image script and Stampendous P107 which I bleached out here and there to add highlight, a strip of old corrugated and some cord and Frantage round the edges. I don't have many Clarity stamps but really do like this inspirational quote and succumbed at Stamperama.

Have a lovely day Peeps.

In the garden & Saturday candy

Good Morning to you all, thanks for your kind comments this week and being so understanding that I have not been able to blog very much. But I think things are improving with my mobile world and yesterday I was able to go in the garden without everything seeming to be on the move so fingers crossed it keeps that way.

At Allsorts this week Catherine has come up with the theme of 'In the Garden', another one that's played right into my hands. Luckily I created this one a few weeks ago, I usually work several weeks ahead with my DT work 'just in case' and when I have a week like this one I know it's the right theory for me.

And as our sponsor is Ruth from A Passion for Stamps I was able to indulge in some of her lovely stamps and punches. I started with a background of Dylusions and the obligatory spritz of Glimmer Mist to get a bit of sparkle going on, then I randomly over stamped with Visible Image diamond and script stamps and a Penny Black sentiment.

Next I stamped ivy and fuchsias from the Pick of the Bunch stamp sets, bleached out the colours and then pained Twinkling H2'0's. Finally some lace and ribbon and flowers made with the Pick of the Bunch Carnations punch and stamp set. So a bit of floral inky indulgence which I thoroughly enjoyed.

The winner of last Saturday's candy is Lorraine, congratulations please mail me with your full postal addy so I can post your goodies off to you.

And this week I have a set of Gorjuss girl stamps, as usual a winner will be selected at random from all comments left this week, if you visit more than once then all comments will go into the draw. All you need to do to be in with a chance of winning is:

1) Be a follower
2) Pop the Saturday Candy logo from my sidebar on your own blog

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Fishing on the lake

Morning Peeps, it's another quickie I'm afraid, not that I am rushing to the office, more the need to keep away from the computer as I am having one of those silly dizzy phases where the whole world is on the move and laying flat seems the only answer.............C'est la vie avec MS.

All I managed yesterday was to finish me new blog header, I thought I would go with a summery scene for a while now that everything is so lush and green and the poppies will be out soon just as they were when this one was taken last year.

The above card is just a little scene I created for a class using Pan Pastels, Stampscape stamps and I think the sentiment is from a Sheena Douglass set.

Have a good Thursday everyone, I shall do my best to get round when my visual world keeps still long enough.

Just the usual inkiness

Using Dylusions Bubblegum pink, cut grass and fresh lime, Stamp Addicts Waiting for the Storm stamp, Memory Box corner flourish and Tonic Peruvian Lily punch and stamp set

Morning Peeps, a rather quick post before I get stuck into 'proper' work, I thought I would share a few more of the DT pieces I have been making with Stamp Addicts latest stamp releases and also Jo Channon's  new Lets Create range of Victorian stamps.............most of you will know both Sarah and Jo from C&C.

Using Dylusions turquoise, fresh lime and London blue, Lets Create Wildflower, Labelled with Love and Rosetta stamp sets, TH caged bird die and Twinking H2o's

Sorry it's short and sweet, time sort of runs away with me and then the phone suddenly reminds me it's time for work.

Have a good Tuesday everyone and as always my grateful thanks for all your visits and kind words.

The Lady of Shalott

Good Morning to all you crafty Peeps, it's the first Sunday of June so time to tell you about our new challenges and at Stamping Sensations it's my turn to choose the theme which is Summer Blooms..........I know I am so transparent and most of you could have predicted that one.........and at Penny Black and More we would like to see CAS creations.

Warning in advance this is a picture heavy post but the top creation was a difficult shape to get a decent photo so I have also done one of each section. I had a vague idea of what I wanted to create for Stamping Sensations which was to use Alfred Lord Tennyson's The Lady of Shalott is some way........I absolutely adore the poem, but with nineteen long verses there was no way I could use it all so I picked out four which I felt matched the photos I had. I also wanted to use my Heartfelt Creations window die as they are our sponsors this month.

Now I know you are probably thinking what on earth does this have to do with Summer Blossoms, well quite a lot actually as there are references to flowers, barley, leaves and so on throughout the poem. For  instance in the first verse which is on the first panel of my card refers to lilies and verse eight in my second panel makes reference to water lilies.

So I copied and printed out each photo, they are not brilliant copies but I think the slightly hazy finish blends with the tones I have used and placed each behind one of the Heartfelt windows and inked the edges with distress ink Rusty Hinge. Next I printed off the verses onto cream card stock and threw some gold embossing powder on before the ink dried and heated, the gold onto the black ink gave a nice deep gold colour. I cut an arch shape for each section and then randomly stamped with Inkylicious paint background with the same distress ink. Finally I joined the panels with lace, mounted the window panels and decorated with some Spellbinder leaves and lilies made from Ruth's punch and stamp peruvian lily set (links for products in the thumbnails at the bottom on post).

Phew..........it was a labour of love but I really enjoyed making it and I intend keeping it until July for history teacher daughters birthday, so apt as like she she is a lover of poetry.

I would like to enter this card into:

The Hobby House - Anything goes
Bloggers - To die for
Hels challenge - I dreamed a dream

Now for my Penny Black and More DT piece which takes far less explanation. It is one of the samples I made last year for Stampington magazine and have never blogged any of them until now because of exclusivity and so on.

I masked the top and bottom of the reverse side (matt side) of a piece of centura pearl and inked the background with distress inks mowed grass and salty ocean, then stamped with the Penny Black grasses using the same inks, which I also used for the butterflies.

Here is another one from the same set of four cards using the same ink pads and masking, but this time I stamped and embossed the butterflies with clear powder to give a resist finish before adding the inks.

I would like to enter this card into:

Crafty Calendar - Things with wings

Have a lovely Sunday and I do hope you will join in our challenges this month.

Old enough to know better & Saturday candy

A very good morning to you all, time for another challenge at Allsorts and this week my teamie Tracy has come up with the great theme of 'Here Come the Girls'. so many possibilities here I am thinking.

I felt a bit of pink coming on and have used a really Old Stamps Happen image called Parisian Socialite which to me always says pink, funny how some stamps do things like that. I have a feeling the stamp may no longer be generally available as but I did find a link to it on Ideal World who seem to have it in stock so have added the thumbnail link below.

I repeat stamped a Hero Arts print stamp for the background and distressed the corners, coloured the image with watercolour pencils and added a bit of glitter. Some feather and flowers made with Tonic Peruvian Lily punch and stamp set and some Marianne leaves. The sentiment is years old and although it's wood mounted doesn't have any name on it, but I rather like it, fits my lifestyle so to speak !

I am pleased to announce the winner of last weeks prize on my Saturday post is Wedgie, well done please mail me with your full postal addy.

This week I have some pretty summery Hunkydory goodies and ribbons, as usual a winner will be selected at random from all comments left this week, if you visit more than once then all comments will go into the draw. All you need to do to be in with a chance of winning is:

1) Be a follower
2) Pop the Saturday Candy logo from my sidebar on your own blog

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
