Beautiful Blooms and looking for pen suggestions

Morning Peeps, it's my turn to host our new challenge at Allsorts and in true transparent fashion my theme is 'Beautiful Blooms'........well don't we all love our flowers and they do lift our spirits. There is a gorgeous A3 stamp set from Rare Earth for the lucky winner.

A card not unlike a Hochanda TV sample in my post earlier in the week which has a YouTube video where I list the stamps used, this one in shades of blue and purple as it was for a friends Birthday using colours I know she is keen on. The stamps are all Chocolate Baroque, an Oxide and stencilled background, an index clip, washi tape and a die cut 'smile'.

And because it's flowers this week, here's another one that was sitting in my folders, this time an Inkylicious sentiment and Penny Black blossom image inked direct to stamp with Distress Markers.......they have been discontinued so if anyone has come across waterbased pens with a hardish bullet tip please do let me know........so many now seem to have brush tips aimed at colouring in, including Arteza which I tried but they are just too soft for applying a decent covering of ink to stamps.

Hope you have a good weekend.

  1. These are very pretty Brenda. Do you have a stamp positioning platform, like stamparatus, as you can keep applying and stamping the image until you get the depth of colour you want? Xx

  8. Both gorgeous cards, Brenda, the Brushstroke PB stamps, always a favourite of mine.

For pens to use on stamps, I love my Zig Art & Graphic Twin pens. One side is a flexible brush-like nib but unlike most pens not made of fibres that disintegrate with use. More like a foam tip or silicone... The other side is a hard classic nib for details. Not cheap, but good quality, they come in sets and singles too, I got mine at the now closed Craft Barn. Check this link for a photo of the nib :

I have never used Crafttelier so I can't comment, but they do have sets and singles in the sale (here) For inking stamps, I would plump for the 12 brights set and maybe add some singles for the browns or any of your favourite colours.
    Good hunting! x

  13. Both are such beautiful floral cards Brenda and loving the blues! Such a pretty background on the first one!

I had no idea Distress markers are being discontinued! I've been frustrated with them for running out too quickly but I love their range of colors. Wonder if it's possible to use them dipped in re-inkers?
If you do find out what works as a good alternative, please do let us know!!

  15. Love the background on your first card. I have a set of Stabilo 68 that are water colour and work well for me. They also do the same colours in a fine tip called Stabilo point 88. Here's a link:

  18. Your cards are absolutely stunning! Beautiful colours on both and I love the background on the first. Thank you for your lovely comment. You asked about the Sentimentally Yours watercolour pens - they are a brush tip - I will try them out for inking up a stamp and let you know what they are like. I haven't had a go at that yet. Take care and stay safe. xxx

  23. Didn't realise the distress markers were discontinued. I have some really ancient paper mania pens and some stampin up ones as well which are both fine for colouring stamps. Love the cards

  24. Two stunning cards Brenda, I love the both so much. Have you tried adding the reinker to your distress pens. If you take out the larger nib with a pair of tweezers you can drip some of the ink into the opening and then replace the nib carefully. It works quite well.

  30. Just browsed your blog--trying to catch up. Lots of beautiful work, Brenda! I especially love the PB iris card! How scary your son struggled with Covid. If only people weren't so stupid & assumed it can't hurt them or someone they love! Thanks for the condolences--sad times.

  31. As always Brenda such beautiful cards, sorry can't help with the pens x

  32. I'm still using my old Whisper Pens they are also great for direct to stamp colouring but sadly I suspect no longer available. New is great but there is a reason so many of us have loved the old.

2 beautiful cards, I love green and blue it is such a pretty and tranquil combination. x

  33. Both cards are equally beautiful Brenda and I really love the colours.

  34. Blues and greens are just glorious together aren't they! Love both these beautiful cards and you've inspired me to get some flowers out!

Regarding pens, I use the Stampin' Up water-based pens and they're perfect for colouring red rubber. They even work on photopolymer although I use a stamping platform for best results. I love the way the pens match the inks, which I also use, and they're double-ended with a thick and a thin nib. SU products are ordered from a demonstrator and I can certainly recommend LesleyG (first in these comments.) Hope this is helpful. Vicky x

  36. Two super blue flower cards. So nice to see looms in a different colour to the norm. Like the other comments above didn't know distress markers had been discontinued. I use Grap'it pens but not sure if you can still get them. Mine are years old end still going strong. Hugs Mrs A.

  38. Absolutely lovely work as always B! Glad to read you got your jabs sorted out - unfortunately there are two systems running - the GPs and the NHS and it's causing huge confusion for many people. Re. the pens - I use Aqua markers at time and the best place to buy from is Cowling and Wilcox for those as well as Pro markers. https://www.cowlingandwilcox.com/markers/9884-winsor-newton-water-colour-markers

Hugs - stay safe and sorry I'm not coming to play - I hope to find more time having made a few changes to the Playground!
