Fanciful bird, Butterflies and Faeries

Morning Peeps, it's Saturday and time for a new challenge at Allsorts and our host this week is Helene and the theme of 'Autumn'. This week winner will receive a store voucher from JMC Designs.

Before telling you about my creation, a quick thank you for all the kind wishes and enquiries about my kidney procedure, I'm pleased to report that all went to plan this time and I was home the same day, one more repeat of the same in two weeks then another CT scan to see the outcome.

Back to Allsorts, I've known Julia the artist behind JMC Designs as a blogging friend for many years, so when she approached me after the launch of her on line store and asked about being a sponsor I was keen to help. And in so doing have stepped well outside my comfort zone by not only using digital images but colouring them in as well!!

I've never made any secret that I'm no colourist but I've given it my best shot! The image at the top is called Sarah who I coloured with Inktense Pencils, added some stencilling with DI and a Penny Black sentiment.

Warmed Cardamom above is a brand new release from Julia this week and you will find along with all her other images here, Julia has also created a sentiment sheet to go with these Autumnal images and I used on on the above card. This time I coloured in with my new Arteza brush pens, not entirely happy with how they worked and the bodice is a bit blotchy but it's early days with them.

I also have a card which I created for the new Butterfly Challenge and it's been pointed out to me that it also fits over at the Lavinia World Challenges so I am linking up there as well.

I succumbed........yet again........to some new Lavinia stamps and used them along with a few older ones including the Lunar Flowers which I adore, to create my scene. When I saw Semira this new Fairy I could envisage her with a kaleidoscope of Butterflies drifting from her outstretched hand which is how I have stamped the two images. The Butterfly Wheel requirements this time are: |Lapis Lazuli, Laser Lemon, Languid Lavender, Layers, Lace, Lattices and of course a Butterfly. The Lemon and Lavender are the inks used on the background, the Fairy, Butterflies, tiny Bunny and Tree are heat embossed with Judikins Lapis Lazuli EP, my layers come in the form of the larger Butterfly which is made up of two different sized Chocolate Baroque stamps, lace along the top and I inked a lattice stencil onto the background........but I'm not totally sure if this is what Mrs A is looking for so that one might be a tad tenuous.

Just a reminder that at Allsorts we are back to normal weekly challenges now the holiday period is over so I do hope you will join us. Have a good weekend everyone.

  2. Dear B, glad you’re going along okay and pray the rest of process goes well for you too.
Some lovely cards, of course, whether in your comfort zone or not, they’ve come up very well indeed.

I’m not sure why, but your latest post came up on my sidebar, and I clicked on it, just the latest post not general bloglink but specific one .. it took me from your desktop one to a mobile one, which doesn’t normally happen on iPad Safari I’m using.
Also when tried to open comments there were not available just what’s at bottom of blog about leaving comment etc. just thought there maybe some glitch and you maybe down on comments??
Thanks for being a blessing, and may God bless you too.
    Hugs, Shaz in Oz.x

  3. What beautiful cards Brenda - love the top one particularly! Well done on taking up the challenge of working with digi's.
So pleased to hear the kidney procedure went well - praying that the scan shows a great improvement for you

  4. Both lovely cards Brenda. Colouring with water based markers is very difficult, you need a good watercolour paper, otherwise it's all dry by the time you want to blend and the paper is liable to pill… Enjoy your weekend!

  5. Love your autumnal colour choice Brenda and your colouring looks fabulous to me. Your fairy card is amazing, so much detail and fab colours too x

  6. Gorgeous cards Brenda I think it does us good to step out of our comfort zones from time to time. I find the problems with colouring is finding a card that suits the medium that you are using. I love your card using the new Lavinia stamps. They were in my basket the morning that they were released, although I've not used them yet.

  7. Hi B. Just want to explain re comment earlier.
Discovered it’s an Apple quirk in Safari called Reader View.
Have worked out how to turn it off, by dint of being stubborn and hunting and hunting.

I’ve now turned it off for all websites.
Don’t you love how they bring things in you dont want, apply them randomly, and drive you to distraction trying to find out how to get rid of it.
    NOT!

It’s easy to turn back on too..

It’s up next to all websites names that have the address. Seems to only work if you link over to specific link not general blog link the symbol is four lines kind of like a music bar minus one line next to links name, hold it down to turn it either on or off as it comes up.
    Hug Shaz.x 😉😆😁❤️

  8. Another wonderful array of loveliness B! (And not like you to succumb to Lavinia stamps either is it?????)
Julia's images are quirky and fun and you've done a great job. (I too am still practicing with the Arteza!)

  9. I love how you used the digis. Did you cut the second one with a digital cutter? It's so neat!
The colours on your lavinia card are so pretty, I would not of thought of putting those together but it works so well.

  12. So pleased to hear that everything went as planned this time Brenda and that your visit was a short one. You have embraced the coloured digital world brilliantly although I was not surprised to see the gorgeous fairy inkyness at the end of the post!! Gorgeous cards xx

  13. That's really good news about your procedure, Brenda - I'm sorry I haven't been able to keep up to date with blogs at all the past few months - but strangely enough, I've been thinking of (and praying for) you a lot, so God knew! I really hope this will go some of the way at least to fixing the long term problems and that you will really notice the difference!

I'm amazed that you've succumbed to digital 'stamps', lol - I just can't bring myself to do it! Maybe it's because I used to digitally design stamps and so it feels like cheating, but I love the skills involved in using real, tangible stamps, and getting past their limitations with all the various techniques. I just find that so satisfying. BUT you've made a wonderful job of them and they really ARE lovely designs. Can't believe you achieved such pale colour with Inktense - your colouring is wonderful. That's another skill that only grows with practice but you seem to have nailed it to me. You're not the first I've heard unfavourable reviews of Arteza from. Thnk I'll stick with my Tombows and alcohol inks, though I usually watercolour with Tombows if I'm honest.

All your cards are gorgeous. as usual - inky delight. I LOVE your Lavinia card - I missed her - oh dear! The LW Challenge is always ATG, so that's a great one for you - and me when I'm able to stamp regularly! It's absolutely gorgeous, in such unusual shades, too.
Stay well and enjoy what you have :-)

:D E quel sentiment in rima è davvero meraviglioso!!!
    Un abbraccio, buona Domenica!!
