To hear the Angels whisper

It's time for our  new challenges at Stamping Sensations and Penny Black and More where our themes are 'Anything with Flowers' and 'Love, Hearts and Flowers'. As always there are wonderful prizes to be won at both.

It's a bit of a long post as I am sharing some rather overdue Rare Earth samples, the stamping arm of Tattered Lace, the new stamps featured on Create and Craft recently and there is another new release coming up on 9th February, some really unusual floral stamps.

Be Crafty are sponsoring us at Stamping Sensations and as I love watching Sam's inky demo's it was the perfect excuse to indulged in one or two of their stamps and of course their BEAUtanicals Poppy was the obvious choice along with this rather nice sentiment. I created a Distress Oxide background, added some soft stenciling and stamped both stamps with Versafine black and coloured the Poppy with Distress Markers.

My Penny Black and More is a bit of an inky one using PB All you need is Love and Words Sweet. My starting point was to use regular distress inks to create a background, to get this softer feel I dab the inkpad onto acetate starting with the lighter colour, spritz with water and lay the acetate onto the card, this way you can control how much or little you add. Dry with a heat gun and do the same with the darker colour. Next I stamped parts of the collage stamps......I prefer to hold the stamp rather than use a block so I have more control over the stamping. Two die cut hearts coloured with the same DI's,  stamped onto the smaller, layered up, some twine, stamped sentiment and sequins. Lots of snippets here so am going to pop over to see Miss Di and Parsnip over at the Snippets Playground with this one, it's been a while so am expecting detention at the very least.

And one final quick and simple card using Be Crafty's small Teasels and Flock of Birds, stamped onto a penal coloured with Pan Pastels.

And now for the Rare Earth shares, with the exception of the layered flowers, they are a bit 'edgy' and lend themselves perfect to a bit of grunge and ink..................

I would like to enter this one onto the current Butterfly Challenge which has a letter wheel along with the requisite Butterfly, so I am hoping the checked background with I created with a gridline acrylic block and DI's will fit the bill.

Happy weekend all.

  17. oooooh! Brenda! (your blog header goes perfectly with today's creations!) The colorings in your Angels Whisper card are so peaceful and soothing - like a morning's new dawn, or the warmth of the sun as seen through a bee's honey comb. Truly lovely. Loving your mint green/lavender combination with the vines of hearts growing inside your heart! Beautiful nature scenes, too. The roses on newsprint are FABULOUS! The are all fabulous, but it is the dramatic masterpiece at the bottom that most grabs my attention - such a beauty! thank you for this morning's inspiration, Brenda. love, de

  29. Firstly Thankyou for your lovely comment that you left. I don't use the other sites either that just require to like or tick a box. I want to engage with my followers not wiz through as many entries as I can which is why it takes me ages to get round everyone but get round I do. Gosh you have been busy and I feel so honoured that you deem my challenge as one that you like to enter. I like your thinking outside of the box with the check element that most certainly does count as one of the requirements. Thankyou for spinning the butterfly wheel with me this week. Hugs Mrs A.

  50. Every one of your cards is stunning Brenda! Of course I really am delighted to see you in the Playground sharing your gorgeous snippets card - no detention at all! In fact Parsnip was hopping up and down with excitement when he spotted you playing on the swings :) Love the soft green and mauve on your snippets card - and a clever idea to hold the stamp rather than pop it onto a block for the background hearts!

    Hugs

  51. My goodness, what a stunning set of cards, Brenda! They are all superb, but, like Sally, I found myself drawn to the teasels. I have several teasel stamps but am going to have to add the BC one to my collection. Don't know what it is about teasels, but they're so photogenic. Absolutely love your card, especially the way you've got them receding into the misty background.

  53. Hi, Brenda! Just wanted to pop in and thank you for your sweet comments on my blog - you are appreciated! Your cards are all so beautiful - you made so many cards - I'm lucky if I get one made. My favourites are the 3rd one and the 6th one. Hope you're doing okay, my friend. I was away from my blog for many months and I'm happy to be back! I'm doing things differently this time, and I am not able to be around to visit as much. Hopefully I can keep the blog going this time. Please take care of yourself and I hope you're doing okay.
