More Poppies

Morning Peeps, it's time for my second share as this month’s Guest Designer over at Chocolate Baroque and today I have a canvas. I also have a couple of shares of cards I made for their new regular posts showcasing cards made in less that fifteen minutes.

My starting point was an 8”x8” canvas which I pained with white gesso and when dry dabbed DI’s Tumbled Glass, Fossilised Amber, Twisted Citron and Cracked Pistachio onto a large craft mat and spritzed liberally with water before dragging the canvas through the wet liquid. I dabbed here and there with a piece of kitchen towel to soften the colours as I wanted a fairly soft and muted background.

Next I made a mask with a piece of acetate and Tattered Lace dies, laid it to one side of the dry canvas and applied Grunge Paste through the apertures and some ‘blobs’ of paste to represent clouds...............in hindsight not sure that part works. When dry I rubbed Gilding Wax around the edges of the canvas and over the Grunge Paste.

Using Archival Watering Can ink I stamped a Poppy from Chocolate Baroque Pretty Poppies stamp sheet, sentiment from the Words of Inspiration set and berry leaves from Autumn Poppies set. Next I coloured the Poppies, leaves and berries with the same colour DI’s and added some gold beads to the Poppy centres. Finally a strip of lace under the Poppies.

And rather belatedly here are my shares from Friday's CB inspirational post, it's a new regular feature showcasing cards that can be made in fifteen minutes of less. My spotlight Poppy card above uses one of the images from CB Pretty Poppies stamp set, simply stamped in back, then one of the flower blooms stamped again, colours with Spectrum pencils cut out with a Tattered Lace circle die and mounted in place. I also added a little background interest with a stencil and DI's.

The set of three cards really were extremely quick to make, for each I dabbed three colours of DI onto a craft sheet, spritzed with water and pained very randomly onto Fabriano, then stamped with quotes from CB Words of Inspiration and Pretty Poppies stamp sets.

Many thanks for popping in today, your comments are always much appreciated.

  47. Your three cards may have been quick, but they are impressive with those colorful backgrounds! Loving your canvas! The soft background colors and design are fabulous! And the poppy card is so elegant! Hugs!

  48. I really love all of these Brenda but the canvas is an absolute stunner with it's delicate colour palette and amazing stamping. I'm always a bit wary of stamping on canvas but you've definitely got it cracked. I like the way that you've just picked up part of the card on the second card with colour and you really are the Queen of Poppies! The last three cards are simply beautiful with the sentiments taking center stage. The background colours that you've used are absolutely perfect and as a quick card to make, they look amazing. I'm way behind on my blogging this week so just trying to catch up a little and you've made some fabulous cards while I've been away Brenda. :) x
