Good morning to you all, it's time for our new challenge at Allsorts and this I have chosen a colour theme which will work for those of you who celebrate Halloween but can equally be used in a totally different way as I have done with my card above. I have two shares today and the second apparently confirms.........if there was ever any doubt........that I am "some sort of mad woman", I will explain why further down.

The flower is Penny Black Jubilant and coloured with Dylusions.....I decided on them over Spectrum pencils to get the intensity of colour.......and has been stamped onto a Brusho background. A Penny Black sentiment cut out with a TL label die and some ribbons to finish.

OK now for the "mad woman" creation, I don't usually 'do' Halloween but I needed to make some for the Tattered Lace Halloween show a couple of weeks ago. The card above featured on that show and when Andy Love took it from Rozella he took one look and asked "what king of mad woman came up with this". I thought it was a bit of fun but seems Andy was a bit unsure about the spiders bouncing up and down.
The thing is I knew exactly what I wanted to make and even made a special trip to source the spiders. The background has been created with Pan Pastels and the spooky line of houses is a Tattered Lace mask. The witch is also a TL mask but to get the intensity of color I used black stencil paste and was really pleased with how it came out.

It's not terribly clear from my photo but I created an acetate dome to allow me to hang some spider on acetate to dangle down the scene. I also added a TL pumpkin, grasses and fancy border down the sides.

Both cards look fantastic to me Brenda! I for one love the spiders, even though like you I am not a huge fan of Halloween! I think that comment was a bit of a cheek!!

Purple and orange is not an easy combination but it does work on your card, especially since it is an appropriate colour for your flowers. Not sure I would qualify the second as a mad woman's idea, it looks to me as a fairly classic take on Halloween, with a few fun details (such as the spiders on the acetate "springs"). Personally I'd be pleased with the results...

Hi Brenda both are beautiful, I love the purple and orange together, especially for Halloween or Fall. The bottom design is brilliant, the background scene with the clouds and building are perfect for the witch and I love the spiders bouncing on the acetate. I don't really do Halloween but I love what you've done with this card and I think that the spiders were a great idea. ReplyDeleteO My Gosh! You should definitely DO Halloween. These are 2 brilliant makes. Love #1 with those wild colors, and it's still very pretty with the wonderful PB flower. Be interested in hearing how you used the dylusions (I'm guessing perhaps filling brushes with the liquid, or making a palette to dip a brush in?). Just super colors on the flower. I LOVE it against that Brusho background, and the TL die looks splendid over the purple background. Adored the witch one and again, brilliant design with the jumping spiders and the masked city skyline. You're MY kind of Mad! Wish I could be mad this spectacularly! Big hugs & TFS.
