Soft Wings and Orchids

Time for our monthly challenges at Stamping Sensations and Penny Black and More where our themes are Dies and Punches and Wings.

My Penny Black creation uses the lovely Penny Black Soft Wings Butterfly, it's quite a large stamp and needs little more with it on a card. I used distress markers to ink the stamp and spritzed with water before stamping and cutting out. The border is Tattered Lace Victoria and I added all to a background stenciled with the same colour DI's.

On to my Stamping Sensations DT work and two cards from me, the first using Ruth's Tonic Pick of the Bunch Lilies Window die and some Theresa Collinds DP's. The sentiment is Stamp Addicts.

I have just realised that I have used the same TL border die for the above card, it wasn't intended that way but figure means I rather like it, on this occasion I used just the inner portion of the die to create a pattern within the base layer which I also embossed with TL foliage and butterflies. The beautiful Orchid is a Sheena stamp coloured in with Spectrum pencils and a little stenciling added to the background.

And here are a few of my Orchids in flower at the moment, hubby nurses them all winter long in the conservatory which seems to be just the right temperature for them and waters them with filtered water and each Summer they bounce back with the most beautiful blooms.

As always we have some fabulous prizes to be won at both challenges so I really hope you will join in this month.

  3. Morning Brenda
Three gorgeous cards today. The border die is beautiful especially the effect on the pink card. I really like the wings and things PB challenge this month and am off to check out my PB stamps to see what I have that is relevant. If not I feel a little shopping coming on.
Your orchids are beautiful. Your husband is very talented, my orchid was stunning when I bought it but has since died - my nurturing skills obviously need some work.
I hope you are feeling well and that the sun is shining in your part of the world.
    Take care

  4. Three absolutely stunning cards Brenda. I love what you've done with the bow on the first one and the colours work so well together. The second one is really striking and uses one of my favourite sentiments. The third is so delicate and you've captured the Orchids perfectly, wonderful colouring x

  21. Beautiful cards, Brenda! The first one really caught my eye - I love those butterflies! I enjoyed seeing your orchids too. We have an orchid and it hasn't bloomed again since it's first blooming last year when we received it. I haven't been pampering it with any special treatment so I guess that's the problem. I'll Google what to do, thanks for the tip!

  35. Another trio of gorgeousness!

My fave is the first so I will start there...these are my favourite colours so i was drawn to this card right away. Lovely design and such pretty butterflies.
The second is stunning...love the impact of the colours. You have reminded me that I don't use my hexegon dies enough!

The last is a tribute to your beautiful orchids. Your husband does a wonderful job of bringing them back to bloom.

32 degrees celsius here...we are going to spend the rest of the afternoon in the pool to try to cool off. We are us at the lake but daughter assures us that Vancouver is almost as hot...around 29 degrees there. Hope this means good news for the rest of summer!
