Blots and Splatters

Today sees the start of a new challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenges and this month our theme is Blots and Splatters. As always there is a generous prize of a $20 shopping voucher from FlonzCraft.

My starting place was a piece of white 300gsm cardstock which I splatted with Cracked Pistachio and Fosillized Amber DI's by dabbing each onto a craft sheet, spritzing with water to get a watery consistency and then picking each up individually with a clean brush and literally flicking onto the left side of card. If you are worried about getting too much ink onto your card try holding the ink loaded brush over the card and tapping lightly with your finger, this gives you a bit more control over where it lands.

Next I used an Inkylicious background stamp and using distress markers inked just a random section down the middle of the stamp to achieve a strip of stamping - I used Black Soot and stamped off first to get a softer finish. I then did the same in the other direction. The Butterfly is Penny Black which I inked with the same colour inks but using distress markers, spritzed with water and stamped onto an offcut of card, cut out and mounted onto my card and added wire antenna. The sentiment is Visible Image.

I will be popping over to the Snippets Playground with this, I heard a rumor that the fine weather has prompted the idea of a diving board over the pond. I'm non too sure about getting into that murky water, but quite like the idea of running a bit of newt fishing competition (they all go back in of course)...........when I was young it was the weekend activity in our little village, no games machines, tablets or mobiles in those days, plain simple self made fun, well until I was a bit older and the lure of the hay barn beckoned........I say no more !!

My thanks for your visit today and I hope you will come and join in our challenge this month.

  17. Delightful as always Brenda. I do like to read your thinking behind each piece. I'm afraid the newt fishing is off limits as I have just spotted we have Palmate Newts in the pond for the first time and a preservation order has been slapped on them. I did find some planks of wood that might be suitable for the diving board. I have bee painting them bright red do wiil be easy to spot. Hugs Mrs A.

  26. Well I checked the playground this morning and saw your entry, but it was no where to be seen on my dashboard and Tracy's Allsorts card did not appear on my dashboard till this morning... is something fishy going on?
Talking of something fishy.. well you were but it was the hay barn that caught more of my attention, gosh did I laugh at the thoughts that went through my head, unfortunately wouldn't publish on here.
Now, why am I here, oh yes, the card.....
Not a bad butterfly Brenda and love the splattering and the names of the colours and as for the sentiment, well we know where your dreams took you, hay.

    Sorry

  35. Hi Brenda! Some cheeky comments from our Playground monkeys here I see! LOVE your card, would that I was brave enough to splatter - I need to get over the fact that if I spoil a card then it can always be started again! You end result is beautiful!

Fishing for newts takes me back to a previous house with a stream running through the bottom of the garden. Our friend's little girl used to love to come and fish for tiddlers - until the day she crouched on a nettle and leapt right into the water :) I do remind her of that now and then!

Sorry I'm a bit late hopping round to comment, the sunshine yesterday was just too tempting!

    Hugs

  39. This looks absolutely beautiful Brenda. Love you ink splatters. I recently have had trouble getting them to look right or show up at all, I think I was too afraid to mess up and haven't used enough paint on the brush.
Great idea to use wire for the antenna!

  46. Goodness gracious me . . . this card is RIGHT UP MY STREET. I simply LOVE it Brenda. Me likely splats and splatting VERY much and the icing on the cake is the pretty focal point of the butterfly & super sentiment. Absolutely brilliant (can you tell I like it?). I must try and join in with that challenge (ooh, maybe today's blogged card would be suitable - rushes off to check!).

No diving in any ponds in the Playground today . . . too foggy! Try coming up to the Tree House for some refreshment instead!

    Hugs, Sarn xxx
